Calling yourselves the "land sharks" is so ridiculously stupid. It honestly wouldn't surprise me considering everything else the Ole Miss folks have been up to lately.

I agree with the poster who suggested the red fox for a legit mascot. Cool animals. Plus, they're sorta fitting for a program that has been breaking every rule in the book these past five years.

If only they were sly like a fox while doing so.

Gotta go back to Colonel Red. Their is no other. Confederate Flags every where! The old Mississippi Governor speech blaring over the PA... "I love Mississippi... her people and her haireeertige!" Dixie bumpin. General Lees doing burnouts every where. Crew cuts and white short sleeve button downs, tucked in, son. Mean lookin white baws cruisin slowly in 1964 Mustangs with police style spot lights. Confederate reenactment soldiers on the sidelines. "Blue Bell ice cream brings back the good ole days.."

A boy can dream *sigh*

Do they have Blue Bell in Mississippi? Been in Texas since I was a kid and nowhere else. So, that must've happened later on.

Anyway, I think most know the mascot thing must be a diversionary tactic. If I was them, I'd focus on baseball or something. Dump all their resources into that and let the football stuff ride, because they're going to be dealing with that for decades to come.

The football program has too many leaks and they'll never be able to bail it out fast enough. But another sport... they could conceivably make something happen there.

They should use some of their state symbols for inspiration:

State Fossil: Prehistoric Whale
State Water Mammal: Bottlenose Dolphin
State Water Fowl: Wood Duck
State Stone: Petrified Wood
State Insect: Honeybee

Any would suffice...but I like the Ole Miss Bottlenose Dolphins, or the Ole Miss Wood Ducks.

“The Landshark as we know it today has its origins in football, but has since expanded to symbolize Ole Miss’s fight spirit and athletic prowess,” Kevin wrote. “On September 26th, we will all have the chance to leave a lunacy and excrement in a referendum vote in this year’s Fall Election.”

Fixed it for him...
