I really didn't care if it was a forfeit or not. That game would do nothing to help strength of schedule. However, I don't expect State to schedule Nicholls anytime soon.

The umps couldn't get to the stadium. What do you want them to do? Play “call your own strikes”?

I understand what State is saying. It was a total bitch move on Nicholls part. If you are told that the field will be ready and umps will be there and get on your bus and leave anyway your a bitch. They were just upset after losing two the day before and didnt want to get swept.

It sounds like they could have been there by game time, which was 2 hours or so later than the meeting between the coaches.

According to the AP release quoted in the N.O. Times Picayune, Ms.State was trying to round up some area highschool umps, not the regular crew who were not able to get to Starkville because of the bad weather. Snow all over the place, highschool umps, and then a 6-7 hr bus ride back to Thibodaux. Cann't say I blame Nicholls.

actually the sec umps were ready and were going to be there by game time.. As for the snow it was melted by 11 AM i was in starkville. NS was just being a bunch wimps. As for the 7 to 8 hour bus ride home we were paying for their meals and hotel. They need to pay reparations to us or they could've played the 3rd game

J.D. Hamilton, who is with the NCAA’s statistics department, said that MSU could still choose to view the game as a forfeit. The NCAA, however, would not.
So if Mississippi State chose to do so, the Bulldogs would have one more win in their books from the forfeit than the NCAA would recognize.

So this is how Alabama got to 12 national championships in football?

so basically it says that the umpires were in b-ham and not starkvegas and they would delay the game an hour and a half to start.

Ready, i like that. they were half a state away.

so the game that was to start at 1:30 wasn't going to start til at least 3, then 3h game then, showers and 6 hour drive back to thibodaux putting them back well after midnight. gee, i can't see why they wouldn't stay.

msu needs to have beef with the SEC or whoever supplies umps. wtf were the officials doing not in starkville?

Make up what you want, I suppose. But, it was a half hour delay. I am sure the umpires were planning on driving over on Sunday morning. It was a different crew than Saturday. It snowed Sat. night/Sunday morning. It changed their travel plans but they could have gotten there. BHam to Starkville is probably less than a 3 hour drive. The game could have/should have been played.
