No backup generator?

Peasant.

Nobody noticed you were even gone. Turns out you aren't nearly as important as you thought.

That being said, it was better while you weren't here. Please leave again.

It's ridiculous enough they play football on turf in an outdoor stadium. Turf in baseball is an abomination.

Every crawfish boil I've been to there involved boiling in clear water, seasoning the outside after cooked and tubs of mustard. That's just an abomination.

Jokes aside, I grew up in BR and live here now. When younger I LOVED it here. Once I had kids my opinion has changed. It's not the worst in BR but it's far from good too. It is almost certainly related to not hanging out with friends nearly as often and focusing on kid activities.

I could live just about anywhere now and I'm indifferent. If it were reasonably possible I would probably move but everywhere is imperfect.

You will be just fine in Lake Charles the same way we all live in imperfect cities. Make the best of it. Find a bubble of like-minded people, raise a family and do your best to ignore the bullshite.
People from there think it's the next great metropolis with a vibrant culture. They are delusional.

People not from there think it's an absolute dump. They are assholes.

Truth is somewhere in the middle.

It definitely hasn't recovered from Hurricane Laura in many respects which is unfortunate.

I really hope God made you sterile. My 4-yr old asks me almost everyday when her next soccer game is.

Can she keep score? nope.
Does she know which goal to score on? Sometimes.
Can she run without laughing so hard she falls down? not always.

Does she enjoy it? With zero hesitation, YES.
Had

I had gone to the store. I had run 3 miles.

Adding the word "had" is trashy and makes the sentence longer. Stop being a hillbilly and use past tense verbs.
It's clean and doesn't smell like a diaper hamper. That's the highest compliment I can give a daycare.

Mrs. Cookie with the newborns is awesome.

This has to be one of the worst takes I've seen in this thread. She is not even remotely close to diabetic levels.

You children :spank:

re: Dear Lafayette Brethren

Lafayette has a problem with thinking the only "culture" that exists is Cajun. If you don't specialize in fried seafood then you have a hard time with long term success in Lafayette.

They have some great restaurants just like everywhere else. To even remotely compare them to New Orleans or even Baton Rouge's wealth of food options is ridiculous.

McDonalds does frequently rehire prior employees. Did your friend get a promotion from cashier to fry station too?

Best source for local news. Quick and mostly accurate.

An example is that I hear a loud boom near my house. Within minutes someone posted about a car accident at the intersection around 5 blocks away and an electrical post getting smoked in the process.

I don't post often nor do I pay much attention to the personalities of individual posters.

Except Kige bc he is a national treasure that should be guarded like the nuclear codes.

So many downvotes. I actually found the rating methodology hilarious. Have an upvote sir.
The maintenance contracts cost $300 per year and covers the oil changes and other normal small things. Mine fires up once a week and if it doesn't operate properly it pings the maintenance company and they are out here the next day.

If there is a storm they come out every 72 hours and change the oil.

I have a strong feeling a large percentage of inoperable generators are maintenance related. To be fair, a big chunk of people that bought homes with one already installed probably don't know those things. It took having a friend tell me the details.
I'm glad all the neighborhood luxury SUVs have a place to congregate. Thieves need options when shopping.

Another note: the parking spaces are too narrow and aisles aren't wide enough. Watching women try to cram into a spot then back out without 14 pivots is less than awesome.
Weight distribution on that boat would be of paramount concern.
