That may be, but I wouldn't call 10 catches for 244 yards and 2 TDs between LSU's top two receivers "shutting down" - especially when we're talking about LSU's offense.

They won't need too, he will drop half the balls that he tries to catch.

I was only going off the shutting down every receiver comment.

Stats don't really mean a whole lot to me. it's W/L's that matter.

yeah, but I referenced significantly more teams than just UAB that carved yall up.

Take it or leave it, but Alabama's defense will be the best MSU has faced by a large margin, and you will not be able to simply out score us without playing good, sound defense.

Good thing it made a difference to the outcome of the game.

Well it looks like we've given up 4 total td's to those receivers... If Cooper happens to match the combined performance of all of those receivers (which I doubt he will do), you will have scored 28 points. Which more than likely will not be enough to win this game. Damn the ceiling just go lower didnt it?

Pretty sure we used man coverage on Cooper with a safety over the top as protection. Except for one 30 yard reception on the very last Alabama possession, it worked very well.

Mississippi State still has a chance to win even if the defense is torched, see Auburn in 2010. Julio Jones, AJ Green, Greg Childs and Alshon Jeffery all torched us.

It means that all of the receivers that have "torched" our secondary this season have only accounted for 28 points. 7 x 4 = 28. Or if you want to get technical, 6 points per touchdown x 4 total touchdowns scored by the receivers listed = 24 points.

I get what you are saying, I am just saying that the point you are trying to make is fricking retarded.

Not really. He's pretty much saying that if he scores 2 TD's it won't mean much because it's likely that throwing the ball is all that you will be able to do. By that time, it'll be too late to run the ball and we'll drop people in coverage.

No, but with the statistics I was given, I was just looking at what Cooper's maximum performance could yield? Look, im not as good as UA fans at using statistics to make myself feel good about this game. Give me a break.

I'm willing to place a wager that MSU double teams Amari at least as much as any team we've played so far.

Reason: Mullen has built up some major respect nationally this year. He will have his pick of jobs after this season. But if he single covers Cooper and he burns the shite out of you he'll lose a lot of that respect. If he shuts down Cooper, or keeps him below his average, and somehow Bama beats him with someone else then that will be an acceptable loss in the eyes of the country. But the talking heads will not let him hear the end of it if he single covers Cooper in a loss.

ETA: It's hilarious that UA fans are banking on one wide receivers to beat MSU this weekend. If thats all it takes to beat the #1 ranked team.. then we need to reevaluate.

Yes, that makes perfect sense. Mullen is gameplanning based upon national perception instead of what he thinks might actually win the game....

Games already out of reach. Too late. I suspect Cooper's stats will reflect much of the same.

I still laugh at the fans who don't get our defense.

I wonder how many years Mullen will be able to do this and make OCs look stupid.

Well, I don't get our defense, so go ahead and laugh at me. They should be getting more stops.
