Wouldnt be surprised if Mack wins the job next year. He was the guy DeBoer had handpicked at Washington, and he has all the physical tools (sort of like PSU's Drew Allar)

Then why didn’t he beat out Milroe?

I would assume Bama fans are just fine with that. At least there will be hope in a new QB, they reached their ceiling with Milroe. That ceiling was pretty ugly too.

He didn't want to face OU again next year.

Team loyalties towards Milroe is my best guess. Sadly, there is a lot of politics involved in football now days. Deboer was put in a difficult position. Had he benched Milroe in favor of his guy he risked losing the team. Plus imagine the optics of benching Milroe for a white player. ESPN would have had a field day with that. They would have played all the clips and drug out all the stat lines where he looked like the best player in the country while conveniently ignoring the Texas, Tennessee and Oklahoma games. That is just the world we live in now.

Didn't that happen with Saban when he benched Milroe?

Yeah, he'd be the first QB in the history of college football to sit a year and then be better than the guy he replaces

There are rumors that some of the players also took the USF game off, even if they were on the field, because Saban benched Milroe that game.

Just another reason Saban said “frick this, I’m out”.

I genuinely think Milroe agreed to stick around after Saban with the agreement that he would keep as much of the team and recruiting class in tact as possible and he would be the starter and only starter.

Thats the only explanation,

I am very happy! Mizzou might have a chance to beat Alabama now.

So, let me get this straight...

Bama fans are ready to get rid of Milroe.
Jawja fans are ready to get rid of Beck.
Texas fans are ready to get rid of Ewers.

Be careful what you wish for.

I wish for a QB that doesn't turn it over 3 times on his own 20 the first 10 minutes of a game.

The fans probably paid him to declare. They can’t afford DeBoer’s buyout, but they can afford Milroe’s.

CFB Nerds being interviewed said that Jalen was given the keys because he was instrumental in keeping roster together when Saban retired and DeBoer felt like he had earned it based on that. He was just simply not built to run KD offense.
