Secondly, officials enforce "targetting" calls, these days...
I thought the Marines were the "straight department" of the Navy.

If they're bestowed a commission. But pretty much, that's the path. I served with 2 officers who were NA grads. Very good officers.
On an aside, the ones who graduated from Notre Dame were idiots.

Hah hah mostly. Probably 1 or 2% were gay if I had to guess. One guy in my float platoon was gay but he and everybody got along really well.
Half the Navy are queers though.

Ibknow that, but why no football team?
Same reason they don't take their own ships to get places... they wouldn't know how to operate.

Marines need Navy “boats” to give them rides to the fight.

Sure, the Marines are the second ones to go into combat (behind the SPECOPS) and they deserve the all the credit they receive.
Do not discount my brothers and sisters onboard destroyers, submarines, and various aircraft that are protecting our shores from foreign submarines and other threats as we speak. Just because they do not make the news on a daily basis does not mean that you have earned the right can call them queers or speak down towards them.
You can enjoy your cheetos on your couch because of us. Remember that.

Does our tax dollars go into NIL for the Military Academies?

Falls under Navy doesn't it?
Also there's Coast Guard and Merchant Marine.
Which play their own, division III schedules.
PS - another bit of trivia. You can graduate from West Point (Army) and be a Marine. This is different from one-year 'exchange' program where a few exceptional cadets are allowed to serve at another institution.

That’s where the ones who can’t hack it in the business world go, which is unfair to the other military personnel.
