My dad had a heart attack years ago and was transported to Kings Daughters in Brookhaven to be stabilized. Then he was air lifted to Baptist in Jackson because Kings Daughters didn’t have a Cath lab to treat him so in my case the Dr is wrong

That would have had to have been years and years ago. I don't think Baptist has had a medivac since their Mitsubishi hit some high power lines over Black Warrior river coming back from a transfer to UAB, if I'm not mistaken. That was mid to late 80s. I knew a nurse that was a flight nurse on that flight.

I believe in proteins + low sugar fruits and vegetables. After that some limited natural carbs.

You are correct on carbs, especially in modern diets. Folks think candy or soda is sugar but carbs (potatoes, pasta, bread, rice, and such all turn to sugar)

UMC is the critical care hospital in Mississippi, they are both a teaching hospital and have a lot of equipment etc.
Pretty familiar with them

It's all speculation, but I think some type of heart issue is most likely. He has not been looking well lately.

I'm sure it's been said but I'm not surprised to see this thread. He hasn't looked well. It's really a shame because he seems like a great guy.

Air lifted to UMMC, they had to wait a while due to low ceiling. Starkville is about 2 hours by car from Jackson, so he wasn't going to go by ambulance. UMMC is full of MSU grads so he will be in great care. Pray for recovery.

Yep, the cause of mine is unknown. My cardiologist said it could be from previous virus. Could also be damage from exposure to some of the pesticides/herbicides I was around as a kid on the farm in the 80's. We used to have to walk off steps and stand under the crop dusters as they flew over back then. Now they use GPS. No telling what all I had dumped on me back in the day. At least we had an umbrellas.

UMMC is the only hospital in the state that has a based med/evac flight program. They have 4 Airbus helicopters, two based in Jackson and two that cover east and north Mississippi.

Nope. And never will.

Regardless, my diagnosis was six years ago so irrelevant

You don't even need something as exotic as covid -- any old virus will do as long as it irritates the heart. I knew someone in their mid 20s who was diagnosed with CHF and that was long before covid. It's rare but it happens. But why are we speculating CHF?

Exactly, had a friend who "won" this crap lottery. Doctors thought it was a blockage but their arteries were clean as a whistle. As the other person above who went through it, can be misdiagnosed as lung (like COPD or BOOP) while the condition gets worse, then suddenly the real issue is diagnosed.

Listening to the feedback tho, it could be a blockage which can be more critical and time sensitive in the short run can lead to pretty much full recovery in 6 months or so.

I think this was in WSU, that is why I asked if he was still doing so in Starkville.

He does look like he is heavier the past few years and more weight means more strain on the heart.

hate to have noticed this, but he obviously discreetly loosened his belt under the table at the beginning of the press conference that was posted

If only I hadn't gotten that vasectomy 18 years ago. I might have been able to make some serious money down the road.

Here at least, with stroke there's a massive push to get them to an appropriate facility first. Little known fact - EMTALA doesn't cover you if you're already at a hospital.
Not sure what you are trying to say. EMTALA doesn't "cover" anyone. EMTALA makes hospitals stabilize patients and allows transfer if the illness is beyond the capabilities of said hospital. They are allowed to transfer then and it not be "dumping".

Due to his chronic cough, seemingly being breathless at times. It was pondered on during the season and now this.

How do the Japanese and other Asians remain so fit and trim when rice is the staple of their diet?
