But how do you get full-blown quotes just by confirming something is true?
She quoted some of those guys in paragraphs
And let's see if she actually taped the interviews. Most reporters generally do.

The cover up is always worse than the crime. Ask my boy Bruce. Lulz at Auburn.

Blanc was quoted in the story like she got the quote DIRECTLY from him. Either she's just in engaged in libel or Blanc is lying to cover his own rear end.

A kid lying because he accidentally said too much? Far less likely than a reporter fabricating something out of whole cloth.
Sounds legit to me.

It's not like Auburn isn't rated as one of the top=5 dirtiest programs in the country, or anything.
They cheat, Bama wins. The system just ain't fair.

I'm going into journalism.
I don't know why a journalist would willingly jack up and misquote a whole thing like this and make this much of an accusation.
It would almost certainly cost her her career if she did. Unless she honestly misunderstood something, I don't think she would come out with a completely fabricated article.

Someone at the NYT made up an entire story one time, with quotes and everything...imaginary sources...so it wouldn't surprise me

She trusted a alleged felon. That is where she got 100% of her information.
Also since it is her blog there is no editorial review.

You're young and idealistic about journalism. Many write stories based on their own agendas and bias. Hopefully you can be what journalism used to be. Good luck.

Well, I understand now that she is not tied to a boss how it could be a little bit easier, but still, to make up quotes and completely fabricate a story could be career suicide.
I know a lot of journalists can be dishonest, but this would be ridiculous

I plan on it. I would never intentionally manipulate or twist anybody's quotes. It's ridiculous to do that to people, especially when they're giving you information.

She did not tape the interviews. Ask yourself why?

Also, there are a number of times where I think it's okay to write with bias. Sports uses a lot of opinion, and depending on the situation, there is room for it in politics and religious matters.
But investigations need ZERO bias. It needs to be pure fact.
Even when writing with bias, it shouldn't go against fact. I can give my take on the new helmet rule, but I can't misquote the rule.
