Just curious but do all au fans actually think the national media is on their side? We all know the AL media is "all in" on this, but outside the state, sentiment is not going your way.

I give him credit in the fact that He views integrity and moral character as the most important traits Athletes and every human being should have. Hard to argue with him

Cam Newton of Auburn is not on my heisman trophy ballot

quote:

That’s right, it says the pursuit of excellence with “INTEGRITY.” And, yet, here we have Cam Newton, a player who left the University of Florida amid allegations of academic fraud and after he was found with a stolen laptop computer and threw it out the window when police arrived; a player whose recruitment is being investigated by the NCAA and the FBI; a player whose father Cecil, according to the NCAA, tried to sell his son’s services to the highest bidder (but, um, Cam supposedly knew nothing about it.).

If Newton wins the Heisman, the trophy should be recast in honor of Cam’s dad. The guy on top of trophy shouldn’t have his arm out; he should have his hand out.

If he was on ESPN last week saying this then I would be more willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Not the case. It's hours before the voting closes and he's going on ESPN to say he won't vote for LaMichael James and Cameron Newton because of their past. He's not trying to change votes, he's trying to get publicity.

No he isn't.

name first second third ballots points Projected Proj%
C Newton 41 1 1 43 126 2362 85.0%
L James 0 15 7 22 37 754 27.1%
A Luck 2 6 9 17 27 654 23.5%
K Moore 0 7 6 13 20 491 17.7%
D Robinson 0 2 3 5 7 85 3.1%

Those are counted from actual known ballots from media members. Cam Newton is 1st on 41 of 45 known ballots.

for some reason...I think Bianchi might be interpreting the word "integrity." Hmm... He has a good point.

Haha ok, when Cam wins the Heisman by what will likely be a record margin we will see how much in the majority he is. You people are so stupid.

If you knew anything about Bianchi, you would realize this is an attention grab. Even if he is right (which is debateable), he is not doing it to stand on morality, ethics or character.

He has a legitimate perspective

It's pretty much the job of people on television to present the (reasonable) opposing points of view

No one cares about camgate or college football as much as the south. The SEC has the best competition, but it also has the most insane fanbases. Too many rednecks who hold their football team`s success too close. Bianchi and other writers are just catering to a segment of readers. No one reads the Orlando Sentinel or Mike Bianchi outside of Florida. Thayer Evans and Brooks (sportsbybrooks) are internet trend writers. They know Cam is being googled constantly so they reach for every story they can. Seriously he posts about Cam going to Club Opera, and Auburn having a long winter break as if its newsworthy. All the players were back in Auburn by the end of the night and every school has a long winter break.

I think the national media has been fair. I wish they could do some real investigative reporting rather than re state the same facts over and over. Their breaking stories are always "Is cam going to be "eligible". We are only victims of the 24 hour news cycle where news is reported, repackaged, and reported again.

I understand Cam is easy to hate for a lot of people. Auburn fans think he`s just having fun and haters think he`s taunting the rest of the world. We`ll find out who Cam really is once he goes pro. Kids shouldn`t face this kind of scrutiny until they`re out of college. If he ends up being a piece of shite, we will all know and remember it that way.

*One other thing, The Reggie Bush case was handled much better. People knew about the house and his impala with rims while he was at USC, but there was no one investigating it because it didn`t involve other institutions and USC`s previous AD and compliance office were extremely relaxed. Reggie got so much shite in the past year because he is a grown adult and is no longer under the protective blanket of being an amateur athlete. Until cam gets drafted, he`s safe.

I hope Cam wins because he was the best this year period. This was a guy who was behind Tebow got kicked out, went to JUCO, won a championship, came to Auburn, puts up ridiculous numbers, leads his team AS A FIRST YEAR FBS STARTER, to 13-0.

Leads team to #1 in the nation, doing it against the best conference and best division in all of college football while going through all these allegations and scrutiny, but coming in and performing to succession every Saturday. Now going to Nat Champ with chance to win it all.

The guy's college life should be a subject of a documentary one day, even if he does nothing else in his life. The icing on the cake would be for him to come out, (after the season or whatever) and tell the NCAA the truth whether he knew anything or not.

He feeds off the crowd and I for one, hope Auburn keeps the trophy in the SEC with the most lopsided victory in the history of the National Championship, Cam wins the Heisman with the most lopsided victory in history, and he is cleared of all allegations by the NCAA hopefully before he gets in the NFL.

Schwaaz is just an idiot.

Cam Newton is going to run away with the Heisman and may shatter OJ's record for biggest blowout in Heisman trophy voting history.

Cam is going to win by a landslid for his play on the field, but with the allegations and his cockyness on the field is not helping him out in the pr standpoint. The rest of the country has been bashing the NCAA for their decision and Cam throughout this whole process.
