What is the Deep South?

Plantations, Race Riots, Spinners, Rappers, Minorities?

You just described Little Rock, Baton Rouge, B-Ham, Jackson etc.

You do realize, as the other thread on the board suggests, the Old South is Dead.

P.S. The average Joe Shmoe thinks Arkansas and Alabama are border states. But they all know Bill Clinton is that fantastic southern boy from Arkansas. Ask any cabby in NYC.

It's so great to have the Aggies back in our conference. Literally.

He's right though.

The SEC should dump all the teams in small media markets.

& what else do you have going for you in Miss. other than Miss./MSU events?

Now this is hilarious. What makes it so?

Topography and history are extremely different. I'd like to know your educated thoughts?

All the old Ole Miss fat cat lawyers are at, or nearing retirement age... or in prison.

Deep South = Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, and South Carolina.

Essentially what used to be known as the Lower South before the Civil War.

ND would be an AMAZING addition to the SEC.

Yes they are way up in the mid-west but ND would practically assure that the SECN was on basic cable in damn near every state in the lower 48.

There are more Arkansas alumni in Dallas than Ole Miss graduates in Memphis. Twenty five percent (25%) of Arkansas Freshmen are from DFW. Plus, it's by far a bigger market for work and tons of old rivalries. Why do you think we have TCU, Texas Tech and Texas lined up?

Let's recap.

Arkansas $100 million
2 (3) Top 100 markets and nice chunk of Dallas (to which the Aggies, TCU, SMU and Horns love to watch the Hogs lose)

Ole Miss $62 million
1 (2) Top 100 Markets with a nice chunk of Memphis (to which other SEC schools tune in to watch y'all lose)

It's not hard to see which is a much bigger market and the revenue streams reflect the answer.

Arkansas has the second most skyboxes in the SEC just behind Alabama with 76k. What do you think happens when we add another 25 and become #1 again? We are already at the $100 million mark with horrible football seasons.

Arkansas is making a conscious effort to reject it's own residents and start siphoning off DFW suburbanites just like Oklahoma did 20 years ago. Both were good moves for each respective University. You can't be a part of the Lone Star State so you do as much as you can to be like us.

Other than OM/State events in MS: Rich musical heritage, Vegas style casino resorts, PGA golf, deep sea fishing, island fishing, hunting, and everything else that's southern in tradition.

They're fighting with TCU and SMU for that 5th spot in the metroplex. Texas us OU and Tech are all solidly ahead of them.

Yeah it's pretty obvious they're trying to copy OU. OU has a championship football history to raise its profile though

What would happen if the Landmass was booted from the SEC IMO -

The Big 12 would be welcoming 2 new members from the geographical heart of the SEC. Ole Miss and State would fine wins easier to come by and other members of the SEC would fine recruiting a little bit harder. I am sure Texas, Tech, OU and OSU would love to hang out in the middle of the South and chat with recruits.

LSU, OM, MSU, UAT, Auburn, Georgia, Kentucky, UTK, Florida and Vandy will always be safe. The other 4 newbies are questionable. The SEC has obviously survived without them. Based off tRant fanbases though, I would put USC and A&M in the keep category. Missouri and Arkansas really do not want people to like them.

Tech/tu/A&M/Oklahoma are 1-4 I assume?

I'd through LSU/Oklahoma State/Baylor in that fight for 5th. They'll never gain noticeable differentiation than the rest. Oklahoma is the only relevant OOS program in DFW, and that will never change.

Yeah I'd rank 1-4 as Texas, A&M, OU Tech? I dunno you probably know better than me. I think those are definitely the top four though and there's a pretty good drop after.

I always forget about Baylor, they're definitely in the mix now that they have had success and their fans aren't ashamed anymore. I was surprised at how much LSU stuff I saw in uptown last time I was there

Yeah that's the way I feel with LSU and Houston
