Me too, but only because you really need an offensive HC right now unless you've got a sure thing defensive HC (not many).
He's like Richt, except he's an a-hole. Could be a great combination.
Would allow them to keep the staff together in the event of a Richt retirement

poor uga if bobo gets the job
bobo would make a fine head coach. What more would you want in one, honestly? He's been coaching here for 14 years. He's a lights out recruiter. His offenses have been improving exponentially every year. He has a fiery personality and the players love him. Honestly, why would he be a bad choice?
The proper phrase should be poor bobo if he gets the job, because the dumbass sidewalkers that dog cuss him after every play on saturdays would surely have an aneurism when he was announced.

my only source is the numerous, countless, myriad quotes from richt himself saying as much.
Don't get so upset. You guys have a tendency to think you're unique in EVERYTHING, it's kind of annoying. Coaches saying they don't want to entertain other offers isn't exactly new.
I don't think Richt intends to leave UGA, but do I think its so well known that he wouldn't even consider it that nobody is offering? No, I don't think that's the case.
More likely, people think he's likely to stay at UGA and they're not in love with him enough to pursue to the extent they might have to garner interest. That could obviously change if someone, somewhere puts a target on him.

I'd be tempted to not go with Bobo, simply because I don't think he's an elite OC and I always lean against keeping things in house. But, that doesn't mean I don't think he can do it, I just probably would want UGA to look around if I was a UGA person.

Thats what I thought too, but after thinking about it Michigan is big deal.
It is a big time program, but it has lost its prestige as of late.
I mean, look at their last hire. Hoke was the best they could get. Yes, he was a Michigan man, but they didn't have a lot of people jumping for the job.

we would, we absolutely would. We're not dumb.
We would go scour the country and try to find the best HC candidate possible. But if we struck out a few times and had to go to bobo as a fallback, that'd be a pretty good option as well. It's not like bobo would instantly be hired the second after richt leaves.

I'm all for Michigan trying to preserve it's slot as an elite program, but I think ultimately it won't be able to do so. Reviving Michigan has obvious appeal, though.

Michigan makes quite a bit of money
Michigan's endowment is probably larger than every SEC school combined minus Vandy and A&M, but they aren't going to spend it in a way they'd consider untoward.

The same rumors have been started about him in reference to Nebraska and Texas A&M (pre-Sumlin). He has stated on multiple occasions over the years that he isn't leaving UGA until he retires or is asked to leave. Plus, he still has two kids in high school and his oldest son, daughter in law, and grandchild just moved back to Athens to live with them while John Richt works as a quality control assistant at UGA.

I assume so, but you know how that stuff goes. I mean, I think the Auburn process was Gus-focused from day one. Now it seems to be working, so I'm not complaining, but as a fan I'd want us to really consider all options, including those with whom we have no ties.
I agree Bobo doesn't strike me as a bad "fallback" if you will. If he's got what it takes, he should certainly be ready.

I think he's a very good OC, but that doesn't so much matter even if he isn't because he likely wouldn't keep calling plays. He'd probably hire an OC, I would guess.
There isn't anyone in college football more connected in Georgia than Mike Bobo. He knows how UGA works. Good public face but with a fiery personality. I think it would work.
I think they'd look around, but if there wasn't an obvious can't-miss candidate, Bobo would get the job.

I wasnt talking about their endowment(which is academic), their AD makes quite a bit of money. They have one of the highest, if not the highest jersey contacts in NCAA

I hear you and I don't blame you for thinking that is all likely legitimate. But, I don't think any of it would stop teams who want him from coming, if they're that interested.

I think he's a solid OC too, but for example, I wouldn't pick him to be AU head coach based on his work as an OC. That's my point. Obviously given his role in Georgia there would be more incentive for you guys to hire him than for outsiders, but that innately makes me a little nervous.
Again, not against it.

no one disputes that Michigan has money to spend if they chose to spend it. what reasonable people are arguing is they aren't likely to spend it because they have refused to in the past.
it would be a break with their prior way of doing business if they offered MR a larger salary to come to Michigan

I actually think Richt would be perfect for a job like Michigan. Big name who isn't an exceptional coach, but a good coach who will win 10 games a year. That is what Michigan needs that to get back from their fall from grace.

Oh I agree fully. I just don't think anyone is going to return Michigan to glory.
But yes, for a program in their spot, they need 10 wins a year, regardless of whether they'll compete for championships. AKA, UGA over the last decade and a half.
