I'm really kind of getting on board with UC, Bama, and Michigan covid'ing out and gifting a NC to UGA after they got spanked in the SEC CG.

But, I'm a sucker for a good story

Does anyone actually dislike Michigan? Seems like a smart fan base and they don’t come to random message boards spouting shite like Bucknut fans.

Great post, SC...the best way to think of Michigan is if God came back to this earth to get a Degree, He would choose the University of Michigan!

Having been up there when we beat them in 1980 and at the Outback bowl when we beat them, I can say from personal experience I loathe Michigan.
Mich fans are Notre Dame fans on crack with their self-perceived importance to post-integration college football.

I can't imagine why any Gamecock would actually give a damn if Georgia wins the CFP. there's only one thing that matters if USC can't - that being the Upstate school doesn't win shite, either.

as for the Dawg fans claiming Carolina hasn't won anything ever - seems Big George took a certain trophy away from Herschel in 1980.

Heisman is an individual award...and it didn't go to the best player in 1980.
South Carolina hasn't won anything as a team. Not in 1980, not ever.

ask Herschel if his 1981 trophy was an 'individual' award

sure did - on the way to being the #1 overall pick in the NFL draft.

First of all, Herschel won the Heisman in 1982. He was the best overall player in 1980, but he was a freshman. Marcus Allen clearly deserved it in 1981. The 1982 trophy went to Herschel as a "career" award. It was not a team award. It was still an individual award.

South Carolina football has won nothing. But you knew that.

They get one 5 star albino transfer QB and all of a sudden they feel relevant.

By the way, I was at the 1980 Georgia-South Carolina game when Herschel and Rogers went head-to-head. Rogers was good...but Herschel was much, much better. Herschel outgained Rogers, and it was Rogers who fumbled the ball away on what could have been a winning drive.

South Carolina lost four games that year.

Rogers won the Heisman that year because he was the best senior in the country, not the best player.

Please take down the Power T from beside your name.

The fact this part of the post sailed over your pointy little head makes all of us look bad. Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

I wonder how good Rogers may have been running for UGA vs a historically weak football program.

Knock them for 4 losses, but '79 was USCe's first 8 win season ever. Back to back 8-4 seasons '79-'80 was the best program had been to date outside of a '69 7-4 ACC title.

Don't get me wrong. I think George Rogers was a great running back. I also believe Herschel deserved the Heisman that year and would have won it if he'd been a junior or senior.

Most South Carolina fans I know are good people and fiercly dedicated. I worked for a while with former USC quarterback Ron Bass. Great guy. I used to love hearing his stories.

That would suck because UGA fans would probably claim the title despite losing the conference.

Alabama did. Why shouldn't we?
