It would hold water if they weren't fighting for the music city bowl by the time bama comes on the schedule as has been the case the majority of the years Saban has been at bama.

of course it would be steady improvement from the previous year and would set up nicely for the following year with most of the team returning

Not many P5 options right now. Most P5 schools already have their OOC set up through at least 2021. We'll probably have a weak, weak P5 or a cupcake. Jeff Long is pissed at Michigan for cancelling this game with late notice that will make scheduling a decent team difficult.
