ATLANTA - All-Southeastern Conference running back Mike Dyer won't be part of Auburn's bowl game or preparations, but the door remains open for his return. So said Auburn coach Gene Chizik at the Chick-fil-A Bowl coaches' press conference Monday at Chick-fil-A headquarters. "He won't be practicing for the bowl game. He won't be playing in the bowl game," Chizik said. "If you see him back at Auburn, that will mean he has done everything we've asked him to do to get back in an Auburn uniform. He is suspended indefinitely. If he does the things we ask him to do, you'll see him back in an Auburn uniform. If he doesn't, you won't."

Smith's situation was far worse, IMO. You also have to take into account that Dyer is a far better player and has a bright future ahead of him. I think this is his last chance from Chizik, and I think he will make the most of it and be suited up next season.

i never heard any of this dyer being a bad egg stuff before, i have always liked dyer. i was one of the doubters with him benefitting from cam but he proved me wrong big time. i kinda want him to stay for his own benefit and my own respect for dyer but my hatred for auburn far outweighs any of my more rational feelings

There was a post that summed up the situation perfectly, but it is gone now...

I'll explain later when not on my phone

thanks buddy i look forward to reading it, for real

i guess it is a little comforting that we aren't the only guys worrying about an elite back but we haven't even got a full use out of ours yet

I don't know what Dyer did or didn't do or if he'll be at Auburn next season.
But, I hope he doesn't waste his opportunity.

Is he a cancer? I wasn't aware of that.

i'm sure there are a lot of things you and I aren't aware of that go down inside AU's football program.

Just think what it would have been without the 2nd best running back in the conference. Also, he was pretty key in a big game last January.

Sure, it would've been worse... my point is we have people here to carry the load... that wasn't the case in 2011.

quote:

OK, so what does this have to do with it being no big deal if Dyer leaves?

Because he play had little/no bearing on our 5 losses.... getting the other issues resolved will make things more manageable for whoever fills his shoes.

quote:

I hope so, but we don't know that. MD is a known commodity

and a known pothead... and a known premadana... Dude was a very talented RB.... best since Cadillac and Brown... but that doesn't change the fact he did stupid shite that compromised that.... we don't need idiots like that.... especially when we have the depth behind to carry the load.

I don't know the AU class schedule, but a buddy sent me a text about Dyer that said that his situation is not just about Pot, but also about grades and classes. He said Dyer basically skipped the entire month of November in his classes and his grades are horrible. I didn't text him back to ask how many days in Nov AU had classes in, but if that's true then I wouldn't expect him back as it reflects a "checked out" attitude.

Again, IF that's true.

chizik said the door's open for Dyer to return.... that sounds like someone how is at least decent in academic standing or has the opportunity to get back in good academic standing...

don't think it really matters at this point... dude's probably gone.

If that was the case, he would have been ruled ineligible for the bowl game. Chizik stated the week before that everyone was eligible.

Props to the interviewer for this. Facepalm of an interview bc of Kristi Malzahn, but it was oh so entertaining.

He needs to grow up, sit down with his coach and take care of whatever he needs to do to get back next fall for Auburn. I don't want to see any young man waste his talent and his opportunities. I don't care who he plays for.

not worried if he was to leave... we've still got Omac, Blakely, Mason ect...

he's all you got.

That would be like me saying "I'm not worried if tyrann, mingo, Montgomery, Reid, Simon, ware, Hilliard, ford, Logan, blue, Johnson, les, claiborne, randle and OBJ leave. We have others".

Sounds like last year "we'll be okay without fairly and cam".
