largest alumni base
I've seen the claim that they have the largest alumni network/association but it seems impossible to me that they would have the largest alumni base. Pretty sure they're not counting all alumni, just ones that joined the association.
ETA: no they just flat out lie and include any university with the name Indiana in it

Further evidence the SEC lives in their own bubble mindset always under the impression the rest of the Country wants to watch them as much as they just want to watch themselves.
I have to be honest, I don't give a rats toenail about watching teams outside of the SEC. The only time I do is when an SEC school is playing ooc, or if I'm bored out of my mind. Imo, screw the other conferences.

How about we have a new playoff format where teams have to win more games rather than just get voted into the semifinals? That have anything to do with it?

Actually, the three largest brands in college football nationally are:
Alabama
Ohio State
Notre Dame
Nice try though

Not a single SEC team in any of the 3 most watched National Championships of all time. I thought SEC peeps and media said only the SEC mattered? ??
Every semester hundreds of thousands of people graduate college. So do the math from the last 25 years. There is so many more eyes on tv now and more people who went to college and might watch college football now. 25 years ago millions less even had access to watch college football.

Since the start of the BCS in 1999, no game has had a higher rating (21.7) or more viewers (35.6M) than the 2006 Rose Bowl between Texas and USC. Second on that list is the first national championship of the CFP era, Ohio State-Oregon in 2015 (18.6, 34.1M).
Lowest rated since the BCS/CFB Playoff Era...
5. 1999: Florida State - Tennessee
4. 2009: Florida - Oklahoma
3. 2004: Oklahoma - LSU
2. 2012: Alabama - LSU
1. 2023: Georgia - TCU
See a trend? Vast majority of the Country not represented. The SEC-ESPN arrogance that people are just going to tune in to watch SEC teams because SEC fan assumed football revolved around them has been proven over and over to be so misguided. Its a big Country... Most don't live in that bubble.

watered down college football. No one was tuning in unless you were a hardcore college fan for this.

Mulligan U. The game was already played
The game in Nov got better ratings when LSU won

All the Miami fans watched on TV since they don't like going to the games. Big TV market!

I mean, let’s be real here hoss. Cignetti won a natty because he figured out the system and built a team that was 3-4 years older (20%) than everyone else. I think that’s seriously cool and congrats to Indiana for winning a natty that was previously not even on the radar. But under no reasonable circumstance does that make him better than the Kirbfather. This is called “recency bias”. Last year it was Ryan Day. This year it’s you.

I'm sure there was more interest for this game than some in years past, but comparing ratings this year to any previous year is a matter of comparing apples to oranges.
After much complaining by the broadcasters that past measurement techniques failed to properly capture live sports audiences, Nielsen made adjustments which have resulted in broadly higher ratings across the board for live sports. This is good for content producers, because it means advertisers will have to pay more for ad time on live sports broadcasts, but posts like this, comparing the new numbers to the old, are borderline fraudulent.
