I would assume they were sent another with a 76 on it before. It's not clear in the article at all what happened.

You're right, my bad. It's been a few years.

On another note, according to 247sports Robinson enrolled at AU on 5/17/2012. That's the same day the teacher changed the score back to a 70.

Don't know what that means (if anything), but it is very interesting.

shite that's rough

I remember my freshman year in HS, our guidance counselor told everyone that if we were to get an A's on our transcript, that they carried a lot more weight than A's from other schools around the South due to our tough grading system.

Memphis schools use the same system. I posted their grading scale on the previous page.

She should have just changed our grades though. My class started out at 600+ and 457 of us graduated. The rest dropped out or transferred to easier schools.

no it doesn't, dumb arse. someone in the school system that she is friends with might have asked her to. she knows that she messed up by doing it and doesn't want to take others down with her.

Or it could mean that she is being well-paid to not say anything knowing that she can continue to extort more cash by keeping her mouth shut.

I think it's a terribly written article. once you break it down there appears to be way too many missing puzzle pieces that I feel the writer could have answered.

This is the exact reason I dont buy a lot of the recruits being paid BS that every school deals with yearly.

If you pay for a recruit, they have got you by the balls. If it comes out, the schools gets in a ton of more trouble than the recruit does. It is just poor business to buy players. IF a school offered me money for my son and I took it. What would stop me from asking for more money his junior year if I am unhappy with the amount of playing time?

This was brought up on the ESPN SMU doc.

yeah...I was just wondering if Auburn got two different transcripts or just the transcript with the 70 on it

I think that's what happened. The craptastic writing in that story doesn't make it clear, but based on the 247Sports link I assume he enrolled with a transcript showing the C. AU got a second transcript that had the grade changed back to a D. The compliance department then called to see which was correct.

You certainly would think twice before benching a player for public intox.

You would think twice about not starting my son, making sure he starts for 4 years, and making sure he has a job after school if he doesnt get drafted. Why...cause I can call the NY Times and say "So and so bought my son and I can prove it with bank statements or boat rec or any other number of things."

I agree. But compliance at Auburn should have been concerned when he qualified. Other schools had stopped recruiting Robinson because of grades. Why would have Auburn waited for the NCAA to get involved before looking into it?

Sounds like Auburn expected him to be eligible. When they saw the transcript, he was short, so they called to question it.

Seems pretty obvious Auburn is involved in the discovery of the discrepancy, not the grade change itself.

if you read the article you would see where Auburn notified the school first.

They didnt if I read the timeline correctly. They checked on it in June.

Why? If he qualified to get into school based on AUs standards then why worry about other schools. Each school ahs their own requirements.

Memphis Counselor Not Talking - JR (70 changed to a 76)

Bottom line: The kid couldn't make a passing grade in the Memphis city school system. Awful.

He will excel in his Sociology studies at AU
