You can't put lipstick on a town that has a Krystal burger and no symphony or opera. Or even an aquarium.

This is some pretty funny shite. Here's a good analogy for the Bama situation: Older, ugly, mildly retarded dude with a good bit of money manages to land a hot chick. He used to have hot chicks all the time back in his prime, but he's got the receding hairline thing going and he just isn't what he used to be (although he still fantasizes that he is). He's excited for a while, but he's paranoid because he knows that she only wants him for his money and because he knows that she still has genuine feelings for her last boyfriend who she dumped and realized that it was a mistake after it was too late to go back. He's scared to death that if the former boyfriend ever became available that she'll be gone and he'll be back to dating the plain janes that he dated before her (Leach, Shula, Price).

I'm actually annoyed with the Alabama fans for criticizing him. If I were them, I'd prefer he said he loved living in Louisiana (where he will never coach again) than "Hey, when I was at Michigan State, I sure loved going to South Bend to play the Irish!"

Amen. To Bammers, Alabama is "The Heart of Dixie". To Louisianians, it's that boring arse state that you have to drive through to get to Florida or Atlanta.

You know, those fans that boo and badmouth Saban sould take a different approach next year. Instead, when they go to Tuscaloosa, they should have a Saban love fest, bring him some good food, send Terry flowers, tell them how we wish him well and that he is really missed in LA... now THAT would REALLY frick with the gumps!!!!

OMG! too funny!!!

If Miles had accepted the Michigan gig, Saban may very well have come back last year (there was talk of it).

It was more than talk. Both Saban AND Spurrier were in BR and met with LSU Brass about becoming the next coach if Miles took the Michigan job. That's a fact. Nick knew he made a mistake and wanted back in. That's accurate information from a friend in high places at Shaw.........

Yes, it is a fact. Just didn't want to get into and have someone ask for a link.

Great find! They are up in arms about his comments.

Maybe he was just being nice to the Louisiana people since he was there, because Louisiana is truly the nastiest state I have ever visited.

What a spin job!

I think you hit the nail on the head! There was all the talk about the LSU jealously but in actuality, it is Gump insecurity!!!!!!

Great stuff!

well for one thing they're mostly catholics in LA. Tuscaloosa, not so much. Maybe he's tired of Baptists asking if he's "saved."

In all seriousness - we certainly have problems with areas in our state, no question. We are 48th, 49th, 50th in a lot of good categories, and 1st, 2nd or 3rd in a lot of bad areas, but if Mobile/Gulf Shores, Daphne, and the rest of the Gulf Coast part of Bama were cut off, I'd never miss it. (Of course, outsiders say the same thing about New Orleans and Louisiana, which clearly shows that they completely miss the point.)

I know for a fact Miles loves it here and so does his family. Baton Rouge and Louisiana can be a very hospitable place when you are like family.

after watching the bama link i believe saban wishes he was still here and if he was given half a chance he would come back to lsu in a split second.

I'm from Shreveport. Had no idea about South Louisiana until I got to LSU. What a wonderful revelation. Hail everything south of Alexandria. Truly a magical place.

If you're going to live in Louisiana, Baton Rouge is the place to be. I love this town! Anywhere north of Alexandria may as well be, well, Alabama.
