I think you guys and the bama people are taking this out of proportion. Nick is a native of West Virginia and spent a lot of time living in Ohio and Michigan. For a Midwesterner to say "it's okay" means really good or great.
Midwesterners don't do the ceremonial and exaggerated politeness and praise that Southerners do. Nick saying "it's okay" means he and his wife really like it.
Also if a Midwesterner says "not bad" it means good.
