You do know the university is not paying him tht much money, right? Coaches pay is subsidized by boosters. Saban probably makes in the $250k/year range from the state. When I worked at AU, the state only payed Tubs 160k/year. The "stay because of pension" line is a myth, and fanbase bullshite.

My only regret in this is not being able to watch the corndogs melt after we took Moffit.

Yeah, I've got no idea how much he makes that's considered TRS salary and I completely agree that the pension played little if any part in his decision to stay. I was just addressing the errors others were saying about the system in general.

What head coach makes only 500K a year?

If we were winning 7 games a year or getting railed a few times a year then ok but we're getting very good returns on our investments. If we can pay it and want to pay it what do you care other than having Bama run you every time we play. We have the resources, the capital, the talent and the people to get it done so we get it done. If Bama was a Fortune 500 we'd be the model for both commercial and financial success. Cochran is EXTREMELY important to our sucess. Not only are our players stronger but better conditioned. It shows in the 4th. Players are on specific diets relative to what position they play. It is very detailed what each player should look like, what the BMI should be and how much muscle mass a player should have. Our corners look this way, Our receivers look like this, etc. Each individual has a workout and diet plan. It is the most detailed I've ever seen. It's also very effective as you just found out.

Saban gets who he wants, money is no issue. Bama makes sure of that, which is why the Saban-Bama marriage has been perfect for Alabama and Nick and hell for everyone else.

That would be along the lines of Saban leaving because Kent State called him home.

Yes ... they are the most underrated member of the staff, both FBS and NFL.

They spend more time with the players than anyone.

They are responsible for "strength and conditioning."

They are often used as motivators on the sideline during games.

ETA: I am happy that mUSChamp was able to get Jeff Dillman here at SC. He did a couple of tours with Bama and a full stint at Florida so he has the experience. Seems like a good guy ... helluva handshake. He told me he is staying on with Bama until after they win the Championship (I like his attitude) and then he'll be back here getting us back up to speed. Losing Fitz a few years ago was a major blow to our program.

There's one thing every coach in America knows. That if they were to be offered the Bama job, there's nowhere thats more willing to pay top money for assistants in order to win.

probably is the best at hiding 'roid use.

We have a while to go. The lawsuits necessary to shift the payments from the coaches to the athletes with take decades.

Yeah of all sports, football clearly does not benefit from extra strength or good conditioning. Good point.

Seriously? You're talking shite because our assistant took a promotion? Good for him, he's earned it.

What next? Trolling because our assistant nutritionist was hired away?

You do realize our strength coach learned the trade from your strength coach. Anything you want to disclose?

And it's rather unbecoming for a man you're age to melt so hard. It can't be good for your health.

Cochran is also the "get back coach"...a position that Malzahn obviously never saw the need to fill.

Saban, Smart, whomever. Doesn't matter. Cochran will grab them by the belt and yank their asses back behind the sideline.
