It at least proves Smith catches a higher percentage of balls thrown to him.
You can infer from that stat that the better "hands" are smiths...take off the p and g glasses

A receiver who catches 5 of 7 passes for 60 yards doesn’t have better hand than one who catches 2 of 3 for 70 yards.
