best game ever called by him. just the variety of formations we were coming with was great. sadly i may now miss him after seeing what he is capable of doing.

Debatable.

He's done literally the same thing since he's been there.

Said it in another thread, Hanks in the backfield = brilliant

play action & tight end use is key for Alabama. dominated with it in '08, didn't do it as much in '09 but still went undefeated, didn't do it at all in '10 & '11 (until the Auburn & NC game)
I'm just confused why we ever went away from it.

i've never viewed him as very creative nor able to make big adjustments. i saw that last night and especially with maze going out. he was even inside the announcer's heads with having lacy in there so much. this was probably the best defense (outside of practice) mcelwain has faced and he responded greatly. for fun though which game(s) do you think he has done better?

I don't think it was a brilliant gameplan....it had more to do with LSU showing up with the intensity of a newborn infant.
alabama played harder..the end.

Well, McElwain did not have to fear the meeting the next day if he lost. He just relaxed and went out on his shield. He called a beautiful game last night.

nope. LSU's defense gave it all they had, Alabama just had a perfect gameplan for them & McCarron executed it to perfection.

hahaha.....whatever...you guys won the game so good on you.....but your opponent was flat all night...and LSU maybe more than any other team in America thrives on intensity and big plays.

Wasn't a drastically different gameplan than what y'all did against AU. Definitely let McCarron air it out more. I think he really struck gold when he started shifting his TE's around and then motioning them out wide pre-snap. Made it really hard to deal with in the passing game. Very solid gameplan.

no doubt, almost identical to what they did against Auburn.

it isn't rocket science to cover #17 in red.....LSU played like garbage and deservedly lost.

it wasn't just 17, multiple receivers got open & McCarron made the plays. I credit that to the gameplan.

Heard a piece of this, too bad Paul still doesn't understand enough about football to ask him the specific questions about the offensive attack, at least what he did against which player and why. For instance, it would have been interesting if he asked him specifically about going after the Honey Badger.

Couldn't have anything to do with BAMA's D huh?

understanding football is the most important thing one can possibly grasp...it is the measure of all true intelligence.

he mentioned that in postgame with Eli last night. Said Mathieu was a great player and dynamic, very good attacking the ball. However, he felt his coverage skills could be exploited because of his size and wanted to try to get the ball downfield on him where his back would be turned. Didn't feel he had the size matchup against Bama's bigger receivers.

McElwain put on his politician's hat and said "we saw that there were personnel mismatches that we felt we could exploit"...
