Please tell me what in McElroy's statement is incorrect? I really want to know what Greg has stated that isn't true.

Its admirable when athletes (or any public figures really) are told how great they are their whole lives and still manage to stay legitimately humble but its not exactly regular human nature for most people.

That doesn't mean people who refer to themselves as icons aren't a bit creepy but its understandable in a way And in what world is Cam Newton not an Auburn icon? Of course he is. In what world is he not an entertainer? Of course he's an entertainer and he did accomplish more in one year than most college football players do in 4. It was a little cringeworthy to hear him say it but it wasn't like he was just making shite up.

IMO, Cam Newton has been TOLD he's an icon by many people for the past 4-6 months. He's a phenominal athlete - but he has shown very little humility in his achievements thusfar in his career.

If Newton said the exact same thing that McElroy said you would be in a masturbatory frenzy about what a cocky bastard he was and that you can't wait until his head gets ripped off in the NFL.

What McElroy said makes sense. He made a statement, and backed it up logically with facts.

Cammy Cam just came out with "im an icon."

Really. A fricking icon?

You guys have got to be frickin kiddin me.

Of those two statements....which one sounds most cocky to you?
Well, when you put it that way...

Hes right. Cam will have to get used to a totally different style of offense.

And Cam should respond "During our head to head this past year in McElroy's house, I led my team to victory after being down 24.. So yeah I guess you could say I'm better than McElroy."

Yea McElroy's handing off skills are top notch and he ran the smartest 4.8 in the history of college football.

Please....this whole thread is a joke right? McElroy an advantage over Newton???? LOL

McElroy could of written the pro style offense playbook and he would still have no advantage over Newton.

Newsflash you demented boog: McElroy is better than $cam. All Cam did was run. Cam couldn't hit the fricking side of a "barn"...get it

You're an idiot. All Cam did against LSU was run because that's all he had to do. Maybe you should try looking at the numbers before making dumbass comments.

Thats true. Too bad he has a noodle arm and cannot make NFL throws. Career backup at best.

Exactly. Thanks for proving my point. Now if Cam couldn't hit the broadside of a barn, like this coonass so eloquently said, why does he only have 133 yards less than the ginger despite throwing 33 less passes? Why does he have a way better pass to TD ratio? Why does he have a 13 point better pass rating, which you conveniently left off?

Oh, and let's not forget these numbers are from Cam's FIRST year of playing SEC football and McElroy's SECOND year of playing SEC football. Here are the comparisons of their first year stats:

GM:
198 for 325 61% 2508yds 17TDs 4 INT 140.55 rating

CN:
185 for 280 66% 2854 yds 30 TD 7 INT 182.05 rating

Would this be at a Jr College?

And he was 66% passing vs 70% passing. Tells me his WR's were effective for him when they got the ball as far as the closeness in yardage. His accuracy wasn't all there. As far as TD's, when you're a run threat, you're going to have the opportunity to throw in the redzone a little bit more. If you think he'll be as effective running in the NFL as he was scrambling in college, well...

God's instrument - hated by nonbelievers.
