After dazzling scouts with his workout during LSU's pro day earlier this month, Derek Stingley Jr. could hear his name called very early in the 2022 NFL draft.
Per ESPN's Matt Miller, Stingley is the "hottest name" in the draft right now and could go to either the Detroit Lions at No. 2 or Houston Texans at No. 3.
Miller noted the Seattle Seahawks at No. 9 "feel like" the floor for Stingley.

quote:

Stingley has been one of the draft's biggest question marks for a long time because of his injury status. He only played in three games last season because of a Lisfranc injury that required surgery in October.

quote:

Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Stingley met with foot specialist Dr. Robert Anderson three times, including once in Indianapolis during the NFL Scouting Combine, and received full medical clearance to take part in LSU's pro day.

Congrats to the young man.

Having a pick within the top five in five of the last six drafts would also be an incredible accomplishment for NFLSU.

I’m going to miss seeing him on the other side of the field.

Aren't the rules of the pre-draft that when teams want a player, they put out negative things, and when they don't want a player, they hype them up hoping someone else will get them?

I guess we will see.

Top 3 is plausible.

#1 overall like your mentor Phteven (aka Daniel Figuerelli) keeps saying is not.

Kid has more national championship interceptions than all Aggies ever, combined.

I have nothing against stingley and I have no doubt he’ll be the first corner off the board but it blows my fricking mind that these shite organizations would take a corner, safety, receiver or running back top 5 ever. Like a lockdown corner is something you should look to get as a missing piece on a playoff team. If you’ve got 20 holes on your team why the frick wouldn’t you sure up your line of scrimmage first or get a great linebacker who can solidify the middle of your defense for the next decade? No you want to go get a prima Dona who will never resign with you after his rookie contract is up, during which the entire time your team will still be arse because there’s about 10 different ways to beat a team even if they have a lockdown corner, namely just throw it to the 4 other guys he’s not guarding or run it. How many championships did the jets when while they had revis? But hey lions gonna lion

No way. Absolutely no way. There are legit effort concerns on top of injury concerns. He’s insanely talented and could end up being the best player in this draft, but he’s not going too 3

He’s got more no-hitters than Nolan Ryan. A top 3 CB who shies away from contact? Rod Woodson and Mel Blount scoff at you.

Shows how "motivated" he was at LSU. He'll be a bust, and an expensive one at that

I don't see Houston taking him at 3 with as much help as they need on both lines.

Remember how gamecawk told us Von Miller wasn't as good as Clowney

He's a lazy sack too

Not bad for a player who has barely touched the field over the last several years.

Preseason accolades are great but results on the field should count for something shouldn’t they? But in case it is crickets there.

All that said more power to him if he is drafted and gets a big payday.

The talent is definitely there, he would've been a first round pick following his freshman season had he been eligible.
