we were both 01 kids. played against him when he was in Van Buren in basketball. i've never in my life seen a white dude (no offense) that athletic. dude was coming down the lane posterizing dudes then would come down the next play and shoot a 25 foot 3 not hit the rim. dude had to go for 35-40 against us i mean we literally could not stop him. We won because they had no one else on their team and we were loaded but dude went the frick off. had he concentrted on BBall would have been a legit basketball player. we had a dude that went on to play for arkansas state that year and he made him his prison bitch lol all game

this was before he committed to Arkansas no one in the little rock area knew who this bad arse white dude was but we knew afterwards. this was like the 4th or 5th game of the year we didn't do any scouting we just knew van buren had a bunch of white dudes and we figured it would be an easy win . we legit almost lost that game

I know a guy who played LB for Mizzou back when we played them in a bowl in like 03/04. He said they spent a lot of time focusing on how to stop Cendric Cobbs and not much on Jones. He said from the film they felt that people just took bad angles and that wouldn't happen to them.

He said once they hit the field, that he quickly understood that was wrong and the long strides he had were the reason. Said he's the best athlete he'd ever played against.

I was at that game and sitting next to some Zoo fan. Nutt started Sorahan (I think) and the zoo fan turned to me and said "he don't look all that special".

He looked like he was just sort of jogging along until you realize he's pulling away from a DB with ease. Nice guy too, had some classes with him.

And then he cost us the 2004 game against UT. That boy invited people to take the ball from his hand

my bad on that one. I fumbled my route 44 cup filled w/ Jack and Coke on my walk to the stadium from Dickson. (this is what we did before tailgating became popular. You'd pre-game like a mofo on Dickson and then hit it hard after the game too)

I cried that it was an omen that I fumbled my booze and damn sure if it wasn't.

That loss was tough. Hands down the most quiet I've heard DWRRS after a loss. You could have heard a pin drop walking down the concourse.

Cause Byron Leftwich and David Garrad or whatever his name is were Tom Brady and Peyton Manning down there right? Horrible QBs. Matt could have gone under center and done better himself.

Has no bearing on Matt Jones being scared AF. Dude quit on play after play after play.

Possibly, disappointed we never got to see this. I had high hopes, Matt had hopes of getting high.

Matt seemed like he was lazy AF when it came to football. If he had applied himself as hard as Brandon Allen did then he would have been elite. The dude barely ever practiced though for one reason or another and definitely didn't put in the extra hours of work. He just showed up and out on Saturday when the lights came on. A freak athlete and one of my favorite Hogs to watch but man he could have been so more.
