their reason is you have an Ex LSU AD and friend of saban in charge of the NCAA....you do the math

So the basketball player who just graduated from Ole Miss and wasn't getting along with the players and coaches, and had actually quit the team and rejoined the team, before transferring to Seton Hall and receiving his waiver was clearly tranferring based on academics?
He wasn't kicked off the team and chose to transfer a week later. I don't think you understand how Masoli's situation is quite different from your other examples. But there is a big difference.

So are medical redshirts, and I wouldn't want the NCAA rubber stamping those either. (And you shouldn't either.)

Houston Nutt brought out the lollerskates.

Could be said about a lot of things they do

Yeah, they ruled on Mallett's waiver in a timely matter even with his former coach on his side with the NCAA.
When I heard this news I was driving I

He was denied for two reasons:
1. he wasn't eligible at OU. False he was eligibible. He was a coaches decision to not allow him to play. He was perfectly academically eligible, which this transfer is based on
2. He decided to transfer after he was kicked off. Totally subjective. If he was planning on going to grad school, who's to say when he decided to consider transfer
Its a total chicken shite move by the NCAA

I don't blame him for taking a chance on him. After Cotton left, we were in a tight spot. Only 2 QB's on scholly. Had to take a chance IMHO. Now we are only in the same spot we were before Masoli. I don't know why, but I'm not quite as upset as everyone else. Not happy, but I've got bigger things to worry about...

Completely subjective, but the NCAA law dogs doing what they want

the problem is you were counting on masoli to play, which you weren't just in june. it's kind of different from our situation in bball with Bost where if he's cleared it's just gravy.

Because he had every intention of transferring before he was suspended. Masoli didn't smoke pot because he didn't want to play for Oregon, Masoli smoked pot because he was leaving Oregon anyway.

Hope Lockett's news is a little more promising.

I would be fine if he had played, but go look in the thread below titled "over/under on Masoli starts" post 99. I, like many OM fans, didn't think he would be a savior. Only help our chances in a couple more games...

True, but typically when there are guidelines and precedents, and those are followed to a 'T', you generally expect a decision like every one prior...an approval

It's a heart problem, you would be surprised at the % of people who have one and don't even know it.

Who else graduated early, faced a drug conviction, was suspended for a season by his head coach then decided to transfer to a different school for "grad work".
Find that precedent.
