re: Does the band still ever play “Hey Baby”?
Posted by Tigercat on 11/9/22 at 8:34 pm
To add on a question, do they play Green Onions anymore? I haven’t been to a game in person in a minute, but I used to hear it during extended tv coverage of games and I don’t think I’ve heard them play it on TV coverage in forever.

Asked about Mason Taylor and why some services had him low. Shea believes in bloodlines and some services did have him ranked higher than others
No offense to Shea, but it’s a little tiring how people across recruiting services are so reluctant to talk about how the sausage is made and possibly show criticism for the industry. Taylor was a clear mis, what did not have to be a top 200 recruit? He had bloodlines, but that’s only a minor part that should have shown him as high floor high ceiling. He is/was physically gifted and was able to show it on the field. What makes him that different than Jake Johnson? Why do Johnson and Manning bloodlines come with huge attention while Taylor was an afterthought? I would like to hear some guys in the industry to actually give a real reasons and criticism why someone like Taylor can be such a whiff by the services, because right now it looks like the only reason for him being under the radar is incompetence.
re: How would you rate LSU's defensive effort against ALA all-time?

How about comparing to the one night "Chinese Bandits" resurgence against #1 Florida in 97? Although the successes in the two games are pass success in 97 versus run success this year, I would argue both came on the back of unlikely success in the trenches from unlikely players.

Spencer ware was a better athlete and package than this kid,
Um, there were plenty that saw Spencer as a depth only because he wasn't that fast on pape. He was a tough instinctive runner that was often playing QB, far from a sure thing.
re: Astros/A’s Brawl

Doesn’t matter when he stopped the shite, the Astros coaches and players are allowed to have their guys back
So the player who gets hit three times in two games should just let it go, but the professional coach is OK to challenge the opposing player, who again is the one hit three times, and that is OK? No, the coach should be professional, no one is threatening his player, and a player who has been hit two at bats in a row should be expected to say whatever stupidity he wants to as long as he isn't threatening your player.
And if you are a coach asking for an opposing player to fight you, you step up to that fight, otherwise you don't have anyone's back.
This would be pathetic behavior for any club, not just the Astros.
re: When was the last CFB player who was truly like TM7?
Posted by Tigercat on 7/26/20 at 1:39 pm
Charles Woodson would be the closest. Honey Badger made many, many more plays as a tackler, and Woodson was more of a ball hawk with INTs. But both impacted the game as a roving defender that was hard to account for.

You’re honestly turning your back on Brees over this? Some of y’all are more political than anything else
Exactly. You all should be ashamed, he donates millions to charity, is a legit great person. But because of how he expressed his political and social ideals out loud isn't ideal for you you treat him like trash.
Anyone who would treat a good man like Brees with contempt for how he wants to talk about his viewpoint is undeserving of the sacrafices made by our troops. And that was true two weeks ago and it is true today.
If you asked our grandfathers that put their lives on the line for our country or our God that asks to care for one another, "hey there are these athletes that do great things in the community, but voice a different opinion than me in the public sphere, should I treat them with comtempt?" What do you think they would tell you?
re: Billy Embody CB (Confidence Level 6) Brian Thomas Jr to LSU
Posted by Tigercat on 6/16/20 at 12:47 am
Thomas looks like a different type of athlete than Marshall, although LSU could certainly use him in some similar ways as they've used Marshall. Athletically Thomas reminds me of Michael Clayton. Neither are elite level fast or explosive, but both play tough and are smooth in everything they do. Like Clayton, you'd want to give Thomas some chances in the open field, whereas Marshall is more of an outside fade and hook guy.
re: Jefferson TD Run vs. Tenn
Posted by Tigercat on 4/20/20 at 3:05 pm
I get that in the grand scheme of things, the Tenn game was yet another bungle of time and strategy at the end of the game. But, two things:
1) Tennessee handled it worse. 13 players left on the field is inexcusable.
2) 13 players is inexcusable, but caused because LSU didn't tip their hand. So, because Les didn't know what he wanted to do, we got an untimed down. Les's insanity won that game for us. It could have cost us the game, but it did the opposite.

Same recruiting class as Leonard Fournette and Myles Garrett.
re: LSU Hires Samford OC Russ Callaway As Offensive Analyst

Looks like a real good hire if so. He had the top passing FCS offense in 2018 and his QB won the Walter Peyton award that year.

Ballots went out this past Monday, must be submitted by this coming Monday. Finalists will be announced then.
Edit: Nevermind, this was information from last year. Its a week later in the cycle this year.

re: Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn just said Saban didn’t like Joseph Addai

That really is strange to hear, because the staff thought so highly of him as a true and redshirt freshman that they got him reps at FB to get him on the field.

3 losses (including inexcusable a&m loss) backed into a ny6 (played a crap team and whooped them as we should’ve)and shutout vs bama and finished 3rd in the west.
You conviently forgot that we killed a good Georgia team and that the A&M loss was as close as it can get on the road. We were closer to one extra win than one loss. That's the factual reality, we lost in 7OT, and we shouldn't expect a journalists to represent your emotional hangups about the team.

He predicted LSU to go 6-6 last year and to lose to Miami. He wasn't even close.
He was also wrong in 2017. He picked LSU as the most overrated SEC team in 2017, picked to finish below A&M in spite of the fact that LSU had a long winning streak against them and the game was in BR that year. (Sallee isn't even smart enough to analyze schedules. Oh and in 2017 A&M would go on to fire that coach who couldn't beat LSU but was somehow coaching a team that was better than LSU.)
re: Barrett Sallee Hates LSU!

Sallee is a hack, he's one of those media personalities that can only see the flash of high profile coaches and high profile offenses. For the last three years LSU has over performed on his expectations. He doesn't see the obvious with wins against teams like Georgia, or close loses on the road like A&M. He just sees that A&M and Georgia have flashier offenses and hotter name head coaches so they must be better.
Sallee and the media like him are lazy; the moment LSU wins and has an offense that is easy to appreciate, is the moment that the same wins we had in previous years suddenly mean more.

Easy for you to say he left money on the table what if he tears his Achilles? And his family needs to money which you guys clearly don’t get
It is easy for me to say, but I say that with confidence in Naz, that with another year in college he could have fully shown off his talent. And then he would have had his NBA contract, and then his family would have the money they need.
This board is full of LSU fans that will cheer for his success, and no legit human being on this board is happy to say he made a mistake for himself. But some of us can look at it objectively and still say, he made a mistake that we hope future players don't make.

You guys need to understand this there was NO decision no influence Naz was a 1 and done you all will shite on his ”decision” even though there never was an actual decision it’s not hard to understand
And his preset decision left money on the table. Unless you think a guy with lottery talent can't improve into the draft with another year's experience.
We try to advocate for what's best for the players, and we always talk about them supporting themselves, well if he had stayed and got a full NBA contract next year, that is better than anything he will get over the next couple of years now. He took the easiest decision and hurt himself, we shouldn't ignore that fact because future players can learn from it.
re: Austin Nola promoted to Mariners
Posted by Tigercat on 6/16/19 at 3:45 pm
The Mariners are by FAR the worst fielding team in MLB this year. The team with the second most errors isn't even close to them. Nola could play the field in almost any position and be an upgrade for them. Though it is interesting to see him start at 1b..
