Hope she gets well soon. Remember those 84 games well. Both the men and Women gymnasts took home gold. The US won 83 gold medals in all. 2nd was Romania at like 50.
Of course, the soviets weren't there... but nonetheless.

She walked away with 2 million in assets from the divorce. She should have at least had an Obamacare policy to cover a lot of the big hospital bill.

The jab got another one.

Sounds accurate, she divorced ex UT QB Shannon Kelley about 5 years ago after 25+ years of marriage. Kelley came from big money and made big money as a partner in an investment firm in Houston. Who knows how her financials have gone post divorce, but here's the house she currently lives in..
I was about to mention that I know for sure she lived in an affluent neighborhood in Houston so we must not know all the details to the situation

Why is this topic on the rant?
Because she’s the mother of an SEC athlete is that ok with you?

Why should "the nation" insure her?
Because she served as an instrument of this nation's propaganda arm. She's every bit the cold warrior as others. Olympians of that time but especially Retton were there to show our greatness and help us triumph over the Soviets. THAT is worth throwing her some fricking change.

I guess if you believe tumbling is the same as years of overseas deployments, putting yourself and your family in harms way, and honorably serving your country you would have a point. But it’s not, and it’s asinine to pretend it is.
She has a net worth of 2,000,000 and chose to not have health insurance (and likely took the jab to work). This is the actions have consequences aspect of being an adult liberals don’t seem to get.

I hope she recovers and live a normal life and she gets health insurance.

quote:Yes, that is one reason. Why have all these different insurance companies milking people of their hard-earned money? Medicare for all with all of us paying into it would be much more affordable for everyone and give the people better coverage.
Because people made bad decisions?

She helped us beat the communist Soviets... so we should give her communist healthcare?
Got it.

Nothing is free.
And by that, I mean public Healthcare policy cannot accomplish everything.
1) quality
2) access
3) affordability
No government program in the world excels at all 3.
At best, you can only achieve 2.
To argue otherwise ignores the reality on the ground (which is easy to do from another country).

she deserves coverage
She could have bought it.
She chose not to.
The options available to her were not deemed good.
Or too expensive (if anyone could have afforded it, it would be her).
It should be a wake up call as to how bad the obamacare mess is when perfectly capable people are refusing to pony up for the crap plans put together.
I've seen it 2nd hand with my brother.
First hand with what happened to my personal family plan (individual deductible went from $250 to $4,000. Max out or pocket went from $800 to $8,000).

My friend who moved to the UK says he has received excellent healthcare there and people I know who moved to France said they received better healthcare there than here and it was on the government's dime.
