There’s much more to lose. Had Texas beat osu this year they are in the playoff but not anything different than at best hosting as a 7-8 seed maybe hosting bama. Loss and you are out.

How can you not see given the committee basically weighed W-L record above all else including SoS that these OOC games are very high risk minimal reward at best?

You had a win over Georgia?

Alabama gave Georgia their only loss, we gave A&M their only loss. Nice try

A&M isn’t Georgia but you know that already. Just accept the fact that you missed the playoffs bc you lost to a bad Florida team.

Except we'd easily be in the playoffs had we not lost to Ohio State with everything else being the same.

“Easily” no you would have just been in the large group that all had a chance

We were in that group even with the loss to Ohio State. We beat 2 playoff teams, one of which would have the same record as us, had we not played Ohio State. You are just trolling at this point, which I respect. But your trolling should at least be logical-adjacent

You think it’s more logical to expect your team to not play good teams than it is for them to beat bad teams? Now that seems odd

It's not odd at all, it's exactly what Mark Ingram is saying. There's zero upside to scheduling these games because someone's got to lose, and # of losses is the deciding factor in the committee's eyes.

Why would you play a harder schedule when all the committee cares about is losses.

The committee has shown their cards. There’s absolutely zero incentive to play a tough OOC schedule anymore. And Bama will sell out their stadium regardless of who they’re playing.

Ultimately, the problem is that losses in the regular season seem to matter a ton. You want to be 10-2 after Thanksgiving weekend. With 9 conference games, there is no point is playing 10 or 11 major conference games.

OSU plays a two to three game conference schedule where physicality comes into to play. Alabama, and other SEC schools have seven to nine conference games that physicality comes into play. Now with the conference moving to nine conference games teams have to pace themselves according or run the risk of being beat to hell with injuries by year end.

Right, we haven’t event started playing 9 SEC conference games yet.

And even if you win the big OOC game it doesn’t buy you any grace when it comes to conference record. Meaning if you beat Ohio St but lose 3 close SEC games they’re not going to say “but they beat Ohio St and this other 2-loss team played Rice.” They’re just going to give it to the 2-loss team.

"Because Ohio State plays in the Big Ten which is a cakewalk compared to a 9 game SEC schedule." So that means Ohio State won't be as prepared come playoffs.

That sure hurt them last year when they crushed Tennessee.

I completely agree. Texas would be in using this scenario and it’s ridiculous they didn’t make it in this year

They should cancel it.

My 3 non conference I’d schedule home and home with Troy, Alabama State and Alabama A&M

If you’re in the SEC you already have enough games to beat you up on the schedule.

Its not about whether theyre good to beat them or not. Youre missing the point. The point is the road through each conference isn't the same and OSU literally only has two to three physical games all season compared to the SEC 7-9 games. An OSU player said the same thing just a week ago that its easier playing in the Big 10. By the end of the season a lot of SEC teams rosters are littered with injuries while the OSU's and Oregons are fresh. That makes a big difference. Again, Caleb Downs, OSU's star safety literally said its easier playing in the Big 10. Lol

Nine conference games next season is also a factor
