Lawrence will be drafted higher and probably be a better pro, but there is zero argument that Trevor Lawrence had a better year than Mac. He was literally worse in every passing category - totals, efficiency, per game, whatever.

Hell he didn't have as good a year as Trask or Howell from UNC in his own conference.

Vote for Heisman after the semifinal game and Goldilocks doesn’t get an invite to the ceremony. He had no business being 2nd.

I keep seeing people say this, especially the part about him likely being a better nfl qb, but the answer for why always seems to be his physical attributes. I mean that's fine and all, but why aren't his physical attributes helping him put up better numbers against lesser competition (compared to the competition he'll face in nfl).

Ryan Leaf was supposed to have some pretty good physical attributes too.

I'm curious about this as well. One cannot help but wonder if he's ridden having a talent advantage for so long that he's in for a rude awakening in the NFL. Dude went 10-1 in the regular season with a season that ranked 12th in QB Rating - lots of QBs with better numbers and worse records. He definitely got carried by his team.

I don't know, and don't pretend to know all the specifics.

I will say that there are a few things
(1) Their scheme kind of sucks. It's incredibly
simplistic, relies a ton on horizontal stuff and doesn't seem to have a whole lot of complexity to it. It feels like 80% of his throws are either swing routes or deep shots (which leads to a lower completion %).

(2) His WR group was pretty bleh this year. It was Amari Rodgers, who is a solid college WR but not a 1st round pick type.......and then a bunch of regular arse dudes.

I do find it odd that nobody ever seems to note that he seems to have some serious lapses in accuracy. Sure, his arm is huge, he runs well, he can make some insane throws.....but he also has games where he just misses dudes. Open dudes.

That Alabama game that everyone always talks about where he was so great.....he was ok, but his receivers caught balls that almost nobody else catches. And they did it like 10 times.

Trevor also has 200+ rushing yards and 8 rushing TDs.

Trevor:

- 32 TDs
In 10 games.
336 yards per game, 3.2 TDs per game

Max:
- 4,039 total yards
- 37 TDs
In 12 games

In 1996? Wuerfful. Peyton threw 20 TD/12 INT in 1996.

Know something funny? Wuerfull won the Heisman in 1996 but finished #2 in Passer Rating. Know who finished #1?

#1 - Steve Sarkisian, BYU (173.6)
#2 - Danny Wuerffel, Florida (170.6)

Statistically Sunshine is basically AJ McCarron. His hype is based almost exclusively on his status as a professional prospect and Saivion Smith being terrible.

Ryan Leaf had a serious drug problem. Does Lawrence have any problems with dope?

DeVonta, Mac, and Najee would have been 1-2-3.

Lawrence has lived off that win over Bama almost as much as Manziel did. Wins over Bama are so rare that when they happen it literally makes careers.

How about Jamarcus Russel then. That guy had every physical attribute you could want.
