I use to vacation in NOLA and never really had an issue. Of course as a tourist, I never brought attention to myself which is usually the way to go.

My entire family has had nothing but bad luck in that shite hole city. My grandmother was punched and robbed in a home invasion, my brother had his car stolen, I had mine broken into. How do you know this was motivated by football? It could have been some thug trying to steal your plate and was spooked in the process.
I left Atlantic Station in ATL a few weeks ago only to discover someone annihilated my bumper in the parking garage (and I have a University of Alabama license plate). My first thought wasn't to blame GA fans
I don't doubt there are football obsessed crazies out there but if a plate was tampered with in New Orleans, I doubt it was related to football.
Man this sucks but you can't single out an entire fanbase. Most LSU fans I've met IN PERSON were good people. I got into an altercation with some drunken Bama frat phags who were harassing an elderly LSU couple after the GOTC in 2011. I don't put up with that bullshite, no matter who you're a fan of, especially when you're bullying old people. So this shite is unfortunately common on every campus. It fricking sucks because people think a football game gives you the right to disrespect people. But alcohol clouds judgement...

Hell yeah man, I have family in Metairie. Used to love visiting my cousins there. Half my family is from Nawlns, Metairie and Baton Rouge. I loved Nawlins as a kid but it was safer back then. Also, the french bread I buy from my local Kroger is made in Metairie
