LSU's floor is still 6-4.....and they have a soft start to get kids reps

So they'll be able to break in all their inexperienced kids. The losses upfront are brutal because as Alabama knows from last year it's just really hard to win with a front group primarily made up of freshmen/sophomores.
State would probably be a lot scarier with Leach if State wasn't also going to be trying to figure out how to play in Leach's system. If this was year 3 of State with Leach, that game would be terrifying to open with.
vs Mississippi St (W)
@ Vanderbilt (W)
vs Missouri (W)
@ Florida (probable L)
vs South Carolina (W)
So 4-1 going into the 2nd half of the schedule
@ Auburn (Toss-up)
Alabama (probable L)
@ Arkansas (W)
@ Texas A&M (Toss-up)
Ole Miss (W)
Worst case - 6-4
Probably - 7-3
Best Case - 8-2

Agree
Hoping for something like 7-3 and we’ll be nice and primed heading into ‘21.

Before Chase opting out I had us challenging for Atlanta. After that, I had 7-3. After Shelvin opting out, I'm just glad we're talking football and ready to see the young guys get some reps. Losing Chase was a game changer.

Not sure how you can say this.
They are super talented but ridiculously inexperienced.
I think they go 7-3 as well but I could easily see them going 4-6.

Playing lots of Freshmen/Sophomores on Defense should pay off for LSU in 21.
Bama played lots of underclassmen on Defense last year so hoping the experience will help this year.

With losses to who?
- Alabama
- Florida
- Auburn
- Texas A&M
I guess State has to be one of these, but they are going to be breaking in an entirely new offense with a coach who notoriously has slow first seasons. Who else? Missouri, South Carolina or Ole Miss at home? Vanderbilt? Arkansas?
If they'd drawn Tennessee, Georgia or Kentucky? Maybe. But not with that draw.

They could lose to Moo State, Ole Miss, or South Carolina.
Emphasis on Ole Miss. LSU’s LBs are the weakest part of their team. JRP could go off on them.
Miss State and SC are not likely but I don’t see it as impossible.
ETA: “What does “Floor“ really mean? To me, it’s the worst possible scenario.
Vanderbilt, Arkansas, and Missouri are the only 3 teams I really don’t think have a chance at beating them.

In typical SoG fashion, a great assessment.
I can see any of these scenarios coming to pass. So long as we avoid taking an L in one of the "should be a W" games, then I'm cool. To be honest, this year is going to be a wash anyway, whether we all want to admit it or not.
Between Covid hysteria and the SJW race to the bottom, I find myself largely disinterested as I know many others are, too.
Hopefully in 2021, things settle down and we can get back to normalcy. Until then, w/e.

They aren't losing to South Carolina
Ole Miss is the last game of the season - by then they will have 9 SEC games under their belt. If it was early? Maybe. But like I said, their schedule sets up as perfectly as you could hope for their situation.
I already addresses State. Sure, State could come out hitting on all cylinders and catch a young LSU defense early. But State's defense was abysmal last year, LSU still has a very good secondary and Leach's early years have always been clunky as hell.

I wonder what the LSU returning production will look like in the 21 season after all this

A lot like Alabama's in 2020, at least defensively. Just substituted opt-outs for injuries.

Looking forward to your returning production threads next summer. Maybe bfnii will approve of the thread next time.
