Well...The stats are interesting...

LSU ranks #2 in scoring defense while OSU ranks #2 in scoring offense.

OSU ranks #2 in passing offense while LSU ranks #6 in passing defense.

LSU ranks #99 in passing offense while OSU ranks #93 in passing defense.

OSU ranks #4 in First Down Offense while LSU ranks #4 in First Down Defense.

OSU ranks #5 in Third Down Conversion Offense and LSU ranks #21 in Third Down Conversion Defense.

LSU ranks #2 in Total Defense and OSU ranks #3 in Total Offense.

OSU ranks #2 and LSU #9 in Passes intercepted.

LSU ranks #1 in Interceptions thrown while OSU ranks #63.

Oddly - LSU ranks #107 in Red Zone Defense and OSU ranks #15.

LSU ranks #16 in sacks allowed and OSU ranks #21.

I'm tired. I don't want to look up any more.

See Oregon and how well that worked for them.

It's a different game here.

You'll find out soon enough.

Arkansas's defense would be top 4 in the big 12 this year

Scoring defense is what is important in football. NCAA

The Hogs (30) would currently be third behind OU (21) and Texas (28). Next closest B12 team is our future brother, Mizzou(52). The mighty Cowboys are next at 62nd. Fricking Aggies with all of that Wrecking Crew tradition are 89th.

62nd? Wow. I'm impressed

Wow we would be dominating the big 12 this year. Top 3 defense and since no one else plays defense our offensive numbers would be ok state crazy.

Bama hung on to this stat too. Ask them how it felt when they got in the red zone.

^^^ This. A telling story when a team ranks 107 out of 120 teams in red zone defense, and bama can't break the end zone. It basically says frick the stats, the team that wants it the most will get it,something we already know. Bamas' D on the other hand did what they normally do in the scoring department.

If I remember right, 'Bama only ran one play inside the red zone on Nov. 5.

But your point is well-taken.

The real issue with the redzone stat is people don't understand it.

Overall red zone defense takes TDs and FGs into account. There's 3 ways to prevent scoring in the red zone 1) missed FG, 2) Force TO, 3) Turnover on downs.

So unless the team misses a chip shot FG, which is rare or goes for it on 4th down (hasn't happened to LSU yet this season) there are very limited opportunities for LSU to drop that percentage.

A better barometer, imo, is TD%. Holding teams to TDs instead of FGs is a much better indicator of a good red zone defense.

Also keeping teams out of the red zone is good.

Here lower is better. LSU is tied for #1 with the least amount of INTs in NCAA.

OSU has thrown 9 INTs this season. Pretty impressive considering how much they throw it.

This. Seriously playing in the SEC will be rough for Mizzou for a few years, so go ahead and put that into your schedule planning.

After you've toughened up you'll be beating up on folks OOC. Be sure and schedule Kansas and run them out of the stadium about 3 or 4 years down the road.

That was my point. To benefit from the bad red zone stat, you have to get there first.

Th fact that Oregon may jump us and there are only two teams ranked in the top 25 in the PAC 12 is pathetic.

You gotta love that ESPN is trying to sell OR as "a different team". That's the only way to get them in the conversation.

Yeah, but Bama's offensive stats are as bad or worse than LSU's. Weeden is a future NFL QB and you're not going to stop him and his offense from scoring. The question is how much can you limit them to?

All this bravado is nothing more than naivette.

I guess no one sees it as a big deal that Oklahoma St. beat Tech by 60 after Tech beat the Sooners. Thats shite is insane ! that being said, I agree that their D wont hold up, LSU 31 - 20

It's pretty naive to think the SEC is the only conference that has athletes on the defensive side of the ball, but a great QB can pick a defense apart no matter how good they are. LSU and Bama have yet to face a QB and offense like OSU. Geno Smith at West Virginia is pretty good, but he's not to Brandon Weeden's level yet and he certainly doesn't have the team surrounding him that Weeden has.

I'm hoping for an LSU vs OSU NC game because I think it will be a very good game.

I'd say 42-38 LSU. I don't think OK state could score enough to overcome their 2-3 turnovers.

Well...Even with 9 interceptions OSU is #1 in Turnover Margin and LSU is #3.
