LSU sports don't always live up to expectations, but they never hit rock bottom

They always seem to find a way to stay above the line that differentiates mediocrity from dumpster fire.

Only exception is basketball of this year.

They have the whole state counting on them (minus NOLA). It's a lot of pressure.

How old are you? Their football program was quite the dumpster fire in the 90s.

Why minus NOLA? Other than BR, more LSU fans in NOLA than anywhere else in the state

Do real life ULL fans and grads do the "UL" thing like their posters on here?

LSU is a unique case. They're alone in a talent rich state that should have have operated at a higher level from integration until the late 90s than they did based on that alone. Due to unique circumstances (being in a conference with Bryant, a string of bad coaching hires) it didn't happen, but now that the potential is reached and their national profile raised I would argue their floor has been raised. It's similar to the untapped potential of the Florida schools pre Spurrier and Bowden, they will never go back to consistent mediocrity and lowest lows that existed before them. It's just not really possible.

NOLA is a Saints town first, LSU second. And don't forget Tulane.

I grew up in New Orleans, the Tigers there ain't what they are in Lake Charles or north shore even.

I generally agree, however, Tennessee is a good case study on this matter. A Top 10 program like UT dropping so low just seems so improbable. Hopefully we will not see lows like this for a long time. I enjoy our just inside the Top 10 status.
