Keeping OU and Bama at 1 and 2 regardless of what happens below them is supporting preseason rankings as "correct" instead of a "prediction"
Let's say that no rankings came out till after week 1. Then does LSU start the season #1? Of course they do.

There is of course a human component to the BCS. But yes, BCS rankings, in the end, are all that matters. For now, rankings are just for bragging rights.
LSU/Bama are far and away the top 2 teams in the SEC in my mind, but theoretically, if MSU sneaks one by LSU after dropping an atomic bomb on the plainsmen, I wonder where the polls would rank us? The poor 'ol mis'sipi state fan in me shudders.
