Louisiana is a castle doctrine state making the vehicle an extension of a mans home. No permit necessary to protect yourself here. Just a quick Google search away.

Let’s see the story unfold. If he was unarmed this will not be good for him and I hate it for him. screw football his life may just have been ruined and yes the other guy may have been a thief but he is dead, that’s never a good thing he had family as well.

Not sure about LA law but most states require a concealed carry permit to have a gun in your car or concealed on your person.

Many states have a castle doctrine extension for vehicles now. I have a TN CC permit but you don’t need one to have a loaded firearm in your car anymore. Believe LA is the same

You do not need a license to own a gun in Louisiana and your vehicle is considered an extension of your home. If someone comes in your home and tries to rob you and you are in fear of your life and shoot them it is justified also doesn’t matter your age.

Why not? Louisiana is a stand your ground state. He had no duty to retreat. Here is the very first part of their law:

A homicide is justifiable: When committed by a person lawfully inside a dwelling, a place of business, or a motor vehicle as defined in R.S. 32:1(40) when the conflict began, against a person who is attempting to make an unlawful entry into the dwelling, place of business, or motor vehicle, or who has made an unlawful entry into the dwelling, place of business, or motor vehicle, and the person committing the homicide reasonably believes that the use of deadly force is necessary to prevent the entry or to compel the intruder to leave the dwelling, place of business, or motor vehicle.

That is virtually always a good thing.

Is not the same as...

Lo and behold, as I suspected, a permit is required to conceal carry handguns in the state of Louisiana.

Don’t forget Reasonable Man. The thief pulled a gun. He had legit fear for his life AND his friend’s life. Good shooting. I hope he gets counseling, justified or not, taking a life is hard to live with.

In LA the car is an extension if the home. You can have your gun in your car however you want. You are also not obligated to tell police when pulled over. If you have a CC license and you have your weapon, you MUST tell the police when they pull you over.

Not just student athletes but everybody in general need to be careful selling stuff to people online. If you are make sure it’s at a police station or a public place especially this time of the year.

This is really good advice. The PD in my town has an area outside the station for online sales transactions that is lighted and live video. They also encourage making the transaction inside the station.

Dunno, but she proves "chick" and "bitch" aren't mutually exclusive.
