LSU offense... is an aggressive defense compatible with this offense?

Definitely not a troll attempt. This is an honest observation and question. I posted this in a thread last night. It really is an honest observation/question and a compliment to LSU:

I must say the quick tempo offense LSU is running is great when you are scoring. When it bogs down the defense is left on the field a long time. Honestly not sure that an uptempo offense is really compatible with the aggressive style of defense LSU is known for. If LSU isn’t able to pull it off then I don’t think it can be done. I’m talking over the course of a season, not tonight.

This LSU offense won’t really hit its true stride for another 3 games or so. Going to get better and will see the most incremental improvements between now and early October.

I'm picking up what you're putting down.

Defense needs to get off the field on 3rd downs. Too many conversions given up last night

Will our offense work if we have a defense? Is that what you're asking?

No will LSU be able to field an aggressive high pressure defense that it has been known for with an uptempo offense? Will change my title to be more accurate.

We will give up more points than under Les Miles conditions, but we have to get off the field on third down. Those long conversions killed us.

Aranda definitely needs to make some adjustments with the defense being out there more. Maybe sub guys in earlier in the game so they aren't dragging out there. The defense was out there 80+ plays last night

I know. This is kind of the norm with an uptempo offense. That's really the question. I think this is the first time an uptempo offense has been tried with a defense as deep and athletic as LSU.

Not sure they are compatible. If LSU cannot pull it off then it is impossible to have a great defense and run an uptempo offense in my opinion.

I love our offense but not a fan of the all the time up tempo. I think we should scale the quickness back just a hair and use it in opportune times. We almost lost because of that last night and in reality this isn’t a problem our coaching staff has had to deal with, ever.

I hope they can at least acknowledge that fact because we need to play more complimentary football so our D stays fresh and healthy for SEC play

First driver after halftime Texas has a 19 play drive and it’s seemed the LSU defensive players never recovered after that.

Not sure what you mean? 2 questions for you:

1. Is LSU running an uptempo offense?

2. Is LSU known for an aggressive defense?

Just trying to understand what you think "premise" actually is.

Some of these responses... I don’t know why our fan base is always so defensive.

It’s a good question — we need to find that sweet spot between how fast our fast paced offense can be taking into account the defense’s need to adequately rest. In any case, the defense will need to make adjustments, and I’m confident Aranda will be able to make those adjustments.

They played on heels last night. Had a spy lb in the middle of nowhere a lot. More zone than we usually play. Very few attempts of more than a 4 man rush. Least aggressive I’ve seen LSU defense play in a long time.

Alabama's defense went through this last season but anyone's defense is going to look a little rough when they're out on the field for 20-25% more plays than usual.
