Ed Orgeron had to have his lawyer draft a statement. You don’t do that if there are no allegations of impropriety.
That's just good sense, not evidence of impropriety. Too many of you disaffected housewife, Forensic Files and CSI fans have been conditioned to believe that "lawyering up" is a sign of some kind of guilt.

I’m going to enjoy the next few months.

Yep, LSU is currently under multiple investigations from multiple agencies from everything to covering up student athletes sexual assaults, severing a self imposed “probation” involving scholarship reductions and post season ban for admitted cheating, while being led by a HC with a substance abuse history..

Yep, 0’s guilty af. It I still want LSU to keep him as their HC.

This was before the federal investigation.
The internal LSU investigation and NCAA investigation are very limited in scope and are not court testimonies. The majority of the individuals providing information in these investigations are likely doing so without legal counsel.
You don’t need a lawyer to say “I had 0 awareness”, or “I reported this ASAP to this person”.
The lawyer allows you to keep negative information that’s not strictly in the scope of these investigations out of the hands of the investigators.
It’s a smart move if he rode the line between accidental non-compliance (which is not necessarily a fire-able offense) and complicit negligence (definitely a fire-able offense).
The federal investigation is likely trickier as a lot of those come with real legal consequences for providing false information and assumed non-compliance for refusing to respond to investigators.

Who said he even used a lawyer?

I’m not a lawyer, and these investigations don’t [currently] involve a courtroom. Plenty of every-day people deal with these types of inquiries/audits/whatever without lawyers.

This was before the federal investigation.
Since this was rape allegations covered up by the Tennis coaches, there was no way it was going to be resolved informally. . .unless the girls made it up (which they did not).
Every fan on this board knew this was going to be a federal investigation involving T9 complaints against some football players. They also are aware that any internal investigation available to NCAA compliance. Obviously Orgeron and the AD's knew this as well. In this scenario, you lawyer up or you get fricked.
Everyone, who has read the public records and articles, also understands that this is not involving the football, basketball, or baseball programs. . .which fully met their compliance procedures. The only people who are suggesting otherwise are people ignorant of the case, or people just having some fun at LSU fans' expense.
If you have some information that leads you to think the football program is involved in a cover-up, please inform: compliance@lsu.edu

I mean if we're being honest, the statement was likely written by the PR team.
You know, to avoid typos like you just made.
