Keep hoping that is true. It is pretty clear that your AD wrote up a shitty contract and what LSU thinks is enforceable, can't be enforced. I guess we will see what the judge says, but I like our chances and we don't have a whole lot to lose either way, because we have the guy we want.
Also, the NCAA talk is absolute nonsense and seems more wishful thinking that anything fact base.
Also, just wanted to let you know that the LSU hiring of Kevin Steele was the first time in the history of the SEC that a Defensive Coordinator was hired who, in a previous DC capacity, gave up 70 points in a game to another team. Just thought you might like to know that.

If they're this good at taking what they want, then you would think they would take a win for a change.

Well, I guess it's a good thing football seasons consist of more than just one game. Amirite?

AGsN,
Why so vitriolic ??
The only thing wrong with Chavis' contract was that LSU did not want to extend his contract one more year of guaranteed money.
How is that a "shitty" contract ??????????????
We made Chavis rich and he repays us by wanting 3 more years of guaranteed money vs 2. He was THAT petty ??????????????? (That plus the fact he was dishonest in his communications over the final few weeks of 2014, and it may have affected his 'decision making' in the bowl game.)
The Kevin Steele comment is your opinion. We will see how Steele does in Baton Rouge.
Just at the risk of being a Devils's Advocate, I don't think many LSU fans would have complained had Chavis stayed. He got along very well with Les. It was the LSU Administration that had a problem with Chavis.
If you've "got the man you want", why are you so concerned

No, it is actually a fact. No SEC team has ever hired a DC who in a previous DC stint gave up 70 points in a single game.

This is actually opinion. You haven't seen the contract. Neither have I. However logic dictates that is the provisions were clearly defined, an attorney and two tier one university wouldn't be going to court over it.

No. Chavis made Chavis rich. You paid him what you thought he was worth. We thought he was worth more and took him away from you.

Pretty confident we either win the case, it is thrown out of court or we settle. Not concerned at all really. Just fun to discuss and see tigger get their tails tucked to cover their sack. Do you even rant bra?

Chavis was making $300K per year before LSU gave him a huge bump. LSU most certainly did make Chavis rich.

I know what you are trying to say. I prefer to think that people earn what they are worth. Statements like this just seem to indicate that LSU gave him a bunch of money out of their good graces and Chavis had nothing to do with it. I don't buy it. He was a great DC for y'all and as such you paid him what he was worth. He most definitely earned the money you paid him. It wasn't charity work.

I, as many other LSU fans have been on the fence with Chavis for years.
You must not have posted on this board when the rumors of Chavis and A&M began to surface. Not only were they laughed out, but the overwhelming LSU sentiment was that Miles was nothing without Chavis.

He was a great DC for Tenn too, and he would have stayed there at $300K if Fulmer hadn't gotten canned.
Spin it all you want, but LSU made Chavis the highest paid Coordinator is the NCAA. Therefore, LSU made Chavis rich.

You can't blame LSU fans for trying to put their best spin on this situation. Deep down they understand.

Furthermore, why would LSU even file a counterclaim if he was so undeniably in the right?
That is the real question. I assume it's because the LSU AD made this personal, so he is going to try to hold Chavis to a standard no other coach gets held to. And it won't work because in the real world a judge decides and not him.
Keep thinking those recruiting photos mean anything in a court, or that the NCAA gives a shite. When LSU loses this thing y'all are going to pretend you never cared about this case as a deflection and I want every post like that you can muster to make sure the crow pie is too large to be ignored.

Well, this is just plain false. Most coaches tender their resignation weeks prior to the end of the season so that they can recruit for their new employer without having to deal with the grace period.
Furthermore, when coaches do tender their resignation so close to the end of the season they, or more often their new employers, pay their buyouts to avoid the grace period.
So, Chavis is being held to the same exact standard as everyone else.

Y'all have NEVER had a coach recruit before the official hire? Ever?
He pretty much put in his resignation as soon as the season was over. He gave a month notice.

You should heed your own advice.

Is it really that clear? You've some insider information that's material here? And what AD writes up his own contracts? I guarantee you LSU has a team of lawyers draft all contracts that Alleva approves. From a legal standpoint, it's probably sound. Although I understand A&M hopes it's not lest they get caught with their hand in the cookie jar.

Again, you have material information or are you just talking out of your butt?

I'm really upset now. I don't know what LSU is going to do this fall...we don't stand a chance against any team on our schedule. BUT, what is the excuse from Aggy going to be when even with our terrible DC...we still beat you?

I haven't seen any pictures of it, so it's all hearsay at this point. Also, they, and LSU, aren't trying to wiggle out of paying the buyout.
