Exactly. This is the part that they just do not get. UGA lost to Bama last year in the SECCG. But still managed to get in. Using the same methodology, there is just as good a chance that the loser of UM-OSU gets dropped to the 4th spot and we are not able to get a second SEC team in.

1 UGA
2 UM-OSU winner
3 TCU (if they win out)
4 UM-OSU loser

Granted, if it is going to be any second SEC team, I think it is going to be Tennessee. Problem is, I do not think we are going to get a second SEC team in this year. CFP has had enough of us (for the time being).

IF is USC is 12-1 with a Conf championship yet are 100% in the playoff. You can take that to the bank. It won’t even be a hard decision.

Maybe...here are some reasons they might take Tennessee over USC.

Selection Committee. Rick George is the only Pac-12 representative on the committee (unless you consider RC Slocum a Pac-12 rep. That is 1 out of 12.

2016 Washington is the only Pac-12 school to have been selected (there were no Power-5 1-loss teams that were not champions that year).

So, it is a bit unprecedented. Will they take a 1-loss Pac-12 champion who lost to a 2-loss team by 1 point, over an SEC non-champion team who lost by 2 touchdowns to the #1 team in the country on the road.

It will help USC that the Pac-12 championship game now pits the 2 teams with the highest conference winning % against each other. So...the winner of the Oregon/Utah game this weekend will (barring something crazy) will be the ones they will have to face in the Pac-12 CG. It will be to USC's advantage if it is Utah, giving them the opportunity to avenge their sole loss of this season.

You shouldn’t be worried about LSU. You should be worried about

Georgia
Ohio St./Michigan
TCU
USC
Clemson

….ALL will have a Comference Championship while you finish 3rd in the SEC.

Right now 2 teams are in

Sec champ (or Georgia if LSU drops a game before the SECCG)
B1G champ

From there
Undefeated TCU is in

Almost there
USC is in if they win out. Unless LSU wins out including the SECCG. In that case I can see Georgia getting in over USC

After that
Michigan/Overrated State loser, if it’s a nail biter, especially if Michigan loses on a last second FG
1-loss ACC champ
The stinking Vols
1-loss TCU as the Big 12 champ. Least likely of any of the possibilities I think

No, there aren’t. The playoff committee has repeatedly demonstrated that isn’t the way they think.

There are 3 teams you have no shot if you’re compared against.

Georgia if they lose the SECCG
1-loss USC as a conference champ
LSU if they win the SECCG

You probably have a chance against 1-loss ACC champ or 1-loss TCU as a conference champ

Michigan/Overrated State loser. If that game is close and I’ll use Michigan as the loser, here’s their comparison

Team 1 loss to a team in the playoffs. Blowout loss on the road

Team 2 loss to a team in the playoffs. Competitive game, close loss on the road.

They’ll take Team 2 every time if it gets to that.

You need a lot of help. You might get it, we’ve seen strange things happen at the end of seasons.

Better not forget that.

Beating LSU in Tiger Stadium is the biggest win that UTk will have in any sport in 2022.

And after another two weeks of total domination, there will be no doubt that UT is one of the top four teams in the country.

Yeah, against 2 of the shittiest teams in the country.... Nothing to brag about there.
