The Big 10 thread got me thinking about LSU's true "cousin" regardless of conference.

I gave 3 AI bots the following prompt:
quote:

considering LSU football's historical winning percentage, national & conference championships, and national reputation, what program is the most similar? also list a runner-up.

Gemini:
#1: Florida
Runner-up: Florida St.

ChatGPT:
#1: Georgia
Runner-up: Florida

Grok:
#1: Florida St.
Runner-up: Auburn

I think all of these are good picks, but I give Georgia the edge due to the lack of real in-state competition (GT > Tulane, but same basic idea).

Land grant school, no other power program in state,

Arky, mizzou, Wisconsin, Tenn, osu are the only schools that fit that criteria. Honestly it’s probably tenner

It's probably Tennessee. They are neck and neck in pretty much every metric. They are the only major athletic schools in the state, both fanbases are rabid, and Neyland vs Death Valley are the two best football environments in the SEC. Pair all that with the Bama and Florida common enemies it makes sense. East TN and South LA are the two most unique areas within the South too

GT won a half of a national title in 1990, after a long break from winning nothing since 1952.

It took LSU with the GOAT to get half of a title in 2003, after winning nothing since 1958.

Until Saban built LSU, they were Georgia Tech, but with only token in state opposition.

Tennessee's should be Minnesota. Largely irrelevant since integration.

Wisconsin needs to win 4 natties and about 100 straight games, but sure

I asked Gemini to give me the top 25 teams most similar to LSU under the same parameters as before, and it listed Wisconsin at #23. Interestingly, I asked it the same question for Bama and it had Wisconsin at #20
