Here friend, this is what LSU fans said. Over 60% of them, 36 of 58, predicted LSU to make the playoffs with a 10-2 or better record.

The same thread is made every offseason by the same posters of the same schools claiming "this is our year." It's a long way we even get to a long arse season. All kinds of shite is going to change with injuries, illnesses, murders, car jacking, dui, assault, distribution of bath salt and beastiality porn arrests. No way to tell how things will unfold.
But, to your point, we better have a squad this year. BK has everything he wanted. If he can't be EXTREMELY successful this year, it probably won't happen.

This is exactly how I would put it

As a fellow LSU fan, we should probably pipe down until we win a season opener. Our team on paper has looked plenty good enough the last few years, yet the opening losses are just piling up for BK..
Meh, it's a smack board.
Bama went 9-4 with the most talent in the country, and lost to Vandy, yet they're here spouting shite every day.

Is there ever a year in which LSU fans don't think they have a "squad"?

Wow.
Looks like 85% of Bama fans predicted they'd make the playoff.
Something about looking at the speck in someone else's eye when you have a beam in your own.

I like nussmeier but some of those picks he threw last season were bad. Plus I wonder if he’s reached his peak? The wr are definitely not on Malik nabers Brian Thomas level either.

What percent do you give team going into Week 1?
50% make the playoff
50% win it all
Either they will or they won't.
Now the odds shift a bit going into Week 2 as half of them will be 0-1.

If Kelly doesn’t make the playoffs this season what does LSU do?
Not a damn thing. We owe him to much.
Thanks again Scott.

I will remain in a "ready to be hurt again" stance.
Maybe if you didn’t think it was a 50-50 shot to make the playoffs when Vegas has you at 1-20 odds you wouldn’t have to be “ready to be hurt again”

With GN at QB, they'll be able to hang with most anybody. The problem is Kelly. His last 5 season's at Notre Dame he was 54-9. But even with that impressive record it was against lesser competition and he had basically nothing to show for it because he couldn't win against the powerhouse teams when he needed to.
Now, in his 3 seasons at LSU, where he was supposedly going to have better recruiting and better players, he's only a paltry 29-11, lost 3 straight opening-season games, got bullwhipped by UGA in that SECCG and his most impressive win is probably that OT win against Bama in season one. But all memories of that were forgotten after the Tide mopped the floor with them last season.
I just don't think he has what it takes to win BIG when he really, REALLY needs to. JMHO. Let the stoning begin.
