it won't be downtown
I think it gives LSU a better overall arena with the backing of the city similar to what Texas did with their new arena. It's desperately needed and could be used for graduations and other university ceremonies.
Not sure how LSU fills it as they have never drawn well for men's basketball and once Mulkey retires they won't fill it for women's hoops. Gymnastics draws impressive crowds.
The concerts it will host will benefit the city.
Overall the project is a win win and maybe it allows LSU to attract a more high profile men's basketball coach down the line.

I’m just hoping for a Pio prediction that it’ll be a POS whatever it is they decide to build.

It'll be located where the track and field is today. PMAC to remain as part of the development scope.

LSU /the city of Baton Rouge / the state of Louisiana... the combination of all three involved, guaranteed to get totally screwed up

Yep, will overspend for a big POS and it won’t be ready in time.

So much for a civilized discussion

No it won't. They specifically said it won't affect the pmac site or the track and field. It's going across from Alex box most likely.

Reading TR about it possibly being down town?
If they do anything to the actual PMAC, LSU could use the Centroplex as a temporary replacement during renovations.

The new arena will 100% sure be located on campus. It will NOT involve tearing down the PMAC or replacing the Track Stadium.
I prefer a MBB/WBB arena only, but it is a wiser use of funding to lease the land to a developer for 30 years saving the university hundreds of millions of dollars.
I am encouraged bigtime at what we know about it now and I am a longtime BB season ticket holder and supporter.

What are the plans for pmac after the new arena is built?
