We will pony up the dough to keep raymond and that is the bottom line. He isn't going to leave lsu to go to auburn, which is a step down from lsu. Just telling it like it is. Raymond is a tiger...an lsu tiger that is.

My point was that the best assistants malzahn has brought in have been poached by other teams. Mcgriff for example improved our secondary noticeably in his short stint. Before that it was Trob and lance thompson.

If you read my post i said the talet is better than ever and it has not shown on the field. IMO coahing turnover is not good for the continuity o that talent being developed by their postion coaches. If you cant keep the good ones around, the talent will not play up to their potential. Thats all i was trying to say. And I believe that has been one of the biggest reasons Malzahn has not had more success. He cannot keep his good assistants from being poached

You're on the right track. Now ask yourself why Malzahn's assistants are being poached so often? Is it really poaching or do they just not like working for the man after a short stint?

You never hear coaches or players lauding Malzahn and saying they enjoy him as HC. Up until the 5th week of the season the majority of AU fans were also ready to run him out of town. In fact LSU "poached" an AU alum right from Malzahn for reported dislike of Malzahn and his decisions. You all stated it was because he wanted to be OC.

Well we just lost our OC a few months ago and just hired a new one. Craig seems to be just fine with the decision as well. Never even threw his name in the hat it seems. So perhaps that narrative AU fans spelled out for us wasn't the big picture.

Auburn is bringing it better players and coaches, why have they not managed to do anything with it?

That was my point. The talent is there. Auburn has had probably one of the highest turnover rates in the league as far as position coaches and even DC. That talent having to adjust to new coaching every year lowers their ceiling. That was the point that Gus has to do a better job of giving incentives to get the better coaches to stay on board.

Yeah, you are correct. Its pretty obvious Gus does not seem like a personable guy, so that may be true. One of my biggest concerns with Gus is that he seems so paranoid tha he wants to hire guys he "trusts". Those guys seem to be the ones that aren't the best assistants, yet he bends over backwards to keep them happy.

Like the story I heard with D Craig was he was unhappy about his suggestions not being taken into account and flat out dismissed. He may not be the best WR coach but the dude can flat out recruit. That one stung losing him.

Same with all the guys Champ took with him, but they were good coaches too. I just think he has to do a better job of keeping some continuity on his staff.

You do realize that's like 50% MORE players in the NFL for LSU right? That's a big gap.

No matter what you do, Corey Raymond will not go anywhere unless he gets a DC job. You may offer him a raise but I am sure we will match

The fact that LSU's coaching staff is one of the best paid in the country is irrelevant.

They broke baw.

All this shows is Auburn does more with less considering the average NFL career is less than 5 years.

Craig leaving Auburn for LSU was not a lateral move. He knows how the NFL views LSU as to Auburn.

Easy decision.

pfft. You've only got about 7 more players on NFL rosters, in total, than Auburn does bruh. And Craig is an absolutely shitty WR coach. Good recruiter, but horrific coach.

If Auburn offers Raymond $600k, he'd probably come unless LSU matches.
