If Clemson and USC are one loss champions they get in over us
If the committee was planning to do that, they would have moved USC up to the 5 spot instead of LSU. Maybe a blowout win in the Pac-12 championship game would jump USC ahead of LSU, but the committee has made it clear that they have serious concerns about USC's defense.
Clemson is currently ranked behind 2-loss Alabama. I don't think beating UNC in the ACC championship game is going to jump them up four spots. For Clemson to get in, they need LSU, USC, and TCU to all lose IMO.

Of Ohio State/Michigan.
The argument to include both OSU and Mich is basically the exact same argument the committee has already used to include Bama and Georgia in both 2021 and 2017. And OSU and Mich are both blue blood media darlings. Sucks, but as long as we have a committee CFB will still be part popularity contest, and I just don't see any way LSU gets in over Ohio State, Michigan, and USC all with better record than LSU.
If TCU stays undefeafeated and gets in, I think the writing is on the wall for LSU to get left out.

The Michigan or Ohio State loser is out. TCU stays in along with LSU if they beat Georgia in SEC Championship.
I could see that being the more likely scenario on second thought. It would be interesting to see how it plays out if LSU pulls off the SECNG and TCU is undefeated. There will be one school complaining how they were screwed.

The committee has already ranked LSU higher than USC. If the committee was going to jump USC over LSU, they would have done it in this week's rankings. Now, if USC beats the breaks off of ND and Oregon then maybe they jump LSU, but if they win those games close and LSU beats UGA, there's nothing that USC would have shown to jump LSU.
I do agree that to feel more comfortable, LSU needs TCU to lose OR OSU to blow out Michigan.

If the game was in the Super Dome instead of the new Georgia Dome and if LSU's offensive line wasn't so dog shitty I would be concerned, but as it stands Im not really concerned.

I'd feel much better if TCU or USC lost even better if they both lost honestly. Not very worried about clemson

You're putting a lot of stock in rankings that don't matter. The only playoff ranking that matters is the last one. The committee still has two weeks left to shuffle whoever they want into the top 4 spots. There is absolutely nothing concrete about being #5 with 2 weeks to go.

1. If LSU wins, we'll be in somewhat uncharted territory so it's tough to say. I have a hard time seeing LSU get in over TCU, USC, Ohio St or Michigan, and UGA. 2016 might provide some precedence for UGA over LSU as 11-1 Ohio St got in over 11-2 Wisconsin
2. If we lose, I tend to think Alabama and maybe Tennessee get a better draw than us. Again, hard to say for sure.

1. Yes
2. Don't the Bowls have at least some rights to pick a team? Because the sugar bowl isn't really fond of LSU.

Sure, but in this scenario LSU would finish the year with a win against the consensus #1 team in the country in their own backyard.
IMO, USC needs to beat ND and Oregon convincingly to jump LSU.

If michigan loses they are up shite creek if they dont get some big help

USC has 2 games left against 2 top 15 teams. Putting LSU at 5 this week is essentially a vanity credit, to give y'all props for a great season before USC plays their big games and jumps you.
This isn't a dig at LSU, it's the reality of life with the "committee of experts" hand picking whatever teams they want fod the playoff.
If LSU was going up against Washington, Illinois, and Wisconsin, y'all would have a great shot at getting in with one more loss than them.
But against USC, Ohio State, and Michigan? Lol. Nope.

Also it would depend how USC won their games. It is pretty clear at this point in time that the only reason they committee is keeping LSU ahead of USC is that they view LSU as a more balanced team on offense and defense aka USC's defense looks like straight arse, but I wouldn't but it below them to have one weekend of games change their opinions... too close to call for me, I'd rather it not be left up to the whims of committee members

If the ultimate goal isn't met, I'd be good with the Sugar or Orange Bowls. Those seem to be the two most likely fallbacks.
Looking forward to the Aggies this weekend, though. I'm sure they'll give our Tigers their best.
Then it'll be time to look forward to the SECG clash with the Dawgs. I believe it will be a great contest.

They just played #16 UCLA while LSU played UAB at home. Like I said, if they were going to jump LSU, this was the week to do it. As I've also said a few times in this thread, this could change if USC beats both ND and Oregon convincingly, but I don't see that happening.

I think we will lose to Georgia by multiple scores and I hope we go to the Orange bowl.
If we beat Georgia we'll have the best wins/resume in the country and I'll be livid if we're left out for USC.

I've also said
trust me, I'd much rather have them agree with your sentiment
But if we sleep walk through a&m and USC gets a convincing victory at home, I think they jump us. Then it would come down to whether or not a win vs UGA (and how we won) is enough to jump us back over them, which could also depend on how USC beats Oregon
Too many factors to feel any sort of confidence in LSU over USC if both win out.. I feel much better about LSU over a 1 loss ACC champ and a 1 loss non big 10 champ (Esp if it's michigan)
Outside of LSU, My focus is squarely on TCU and USC the next 2 weeks
