It's been a great ride for LSU fans this year. I don't think many thought LSU would have a year like this one.

So, I am curious about your thoughts on two different scenarios.

1. IF LSU wins the SECCG and it is a close game, does the Playoff committee send LSU into the playoffs as the first 2 loss playoff team? LSU is playing great football right now, so it is a possibility.

OR

2. If Georgia beats LSU in a close game, what bowl do you think LSU will go to? Several years ago, Georgia won the east, and played in the SECCG and lost, then Florida went to the Sugar Bowl (I think it was the Sugar) and Georgia went to a much less prestigious bowl.

I would love it if this thread could be a serious thread and not turn into a snipe, troll thread, please. I am just curious about your honest opinions.

If LSU wins out they are 100% in.

If we drop the SEC championship game I want the Orange Bowl.

Sugar is at 11 AM this year.

1) cannot make a prediction on Uga in a vacuum. If TCU and USC win out, it may be tough for Georgia to get selected over one of those. However, the fact that USC is currently below us in the rankings may pave the way. Clearly, a close game enhances the chances. I think there’s a good chance that both TCU and USC fail to win out, which would put Georgia in, even with a loss.

2) we should not fall behind Alabama due to a loss to Georgia. We beat them and Alabama did not have to play the extra game. But even if we do, it would mean orange or cotton instead of sugar. I’ve seen us projected ti the orange bowl vs Clemson, which I would actually prefer vs the Sugar Bowl against Kansas St.

It would require a lot of things to fall our way (2007). A possibility. Not very likely. The SEC may get shut out of the CFP.

Consensus seems to be Orange. Tennessee (two losses) to the Sugar and Bama (two losses) to the Cotton.

The ride has been incredible. It's nice not having a cartoon character on the sidelines.

What Kelly did in year 1 is insane.

Seasons with zero expectations and you surprise people are fun as hell.

Georgia is gonna be extremely tough to beat tho, they are fantastic.

I would be shocked if LSU beats Georgia. If somehow, we do, I think Georgia should be in. TCU is one of those teams who will get blown out in the playoffs like Oklahoma does. No one likes to watch those kind of games.

Not sure where LSU would go bowling with a loss to Georgia.

For me, I think this season, no matter what happens from here on out, has exceeded my expectations, I'll consider it a win.

Honestly, I think Georgia beats LSU, and we end up in the Outback Bowl but would love the Sugar

In 2017 it appeared to almost be a given that if Auburn won the SECCG they would go to the playoff. That Auburn team had two losses going into the Georgia title game. With LSU being 5th now I don't see how LSU would be left out of the playoffs IF LSU beats Georgia. And I capitalized IF.

With a loss, personally I'd like to see the Sugar since I'd have a better shot at attending. If not the Sugar maybe the Orange since LSU hasn't played there in 40 years.

I think the only way we win is if it’s a defensive slugfest. Our OL is gonna struggle against y’all’s front 7. Will Campbell and Emery Jones may be beasts, but they haven’t seen anything like y’all’s front 7. I respect the hell out of UGA, because of our mutual hatred of UF and Auburn. I look forward to many SEC championship matchups with y’all in the future, once Kelly gets another year or 2

Not an LSU fan but good topic. I think the committee will look the other way at the FSU loss if LSU were to beat UGA. The issue would be if TCU is undefeated then how can you ignore the bad loss to TN at home? LSU would likely beat TCU, and maybe by a decent margin but would guess TCU prevents LSU from controlling its own destiny as things stand today.

The Michigan or Ohio State loser is out. TCU stays in along with LSU if they beat Georgia in SEC Championship.

Agree 100%. If SEC is going to represented in playoffs, UGA will have to win in Atlanta.

Otherwise the likely playoff outcome is

OSU/Mich winner
USC
TCU
Clemson

4 conference champs, all undefeated or 1-loss.

Quite honestly, I think the college football powers that be would be giddy at the prospect of a playoff without an SEC team steamrolling everyone in 40 point blowouts that most of the country turns off at halftime. SEC fatigue is real.

I think LSU needs TCU and USC to lose. I think LSU is in over any 1 loss non-champ from another conference, LSU would be in over clemson as well. I feel like the committee has been waiting for any chance they can to swipe out TCU, think LSU is in above a 1 loss TCU and definitely in over a 2 loss USC champion. USC and TCU losing pretty much secures it for LSU if they win

If neither lose then it will come down to the committee likely deciding between a one loss non cham p UGA and a 2 loss SEC champ LSU. In that case it may depend on entirely how the game was one. Did LSU win comfortably, did they squeak by in the last minute, were they statistically dominated but managed to pull it out of their arse

All that being said, I wont worry too much about it as LSU beating UGA may be the least likely of the scenarios necessary for us to get in

Not feeling it. Think they want conference champions this year (just a gut feeling). If Clemson and USC are one loss champions they get in over us. Just an opinion.

Lot of football to be played on rivalry weekend.

I am super happy just to be in this position. I don’t expect to beat Georgia, but this team has a lot of fight in it. We are a flawed team, but only Tennessee has exposed those flaws so far. I also think our team has improved a lot since that game.

We have to beat the Aggies this week and I’m expecting it to be a war
