You have seen more of them than anyone. I think Bama did and will do another good job at stopping your offense with the best defense in college football but how can we put points on the board. Serious responses appreciated.

First of all, LSU is the best defense and proved it against BCS level competition. Second, your defense was starting to bend in the fourth quarter. That's what led to an easy 20+ yard run by Ford in OT.

As for attacking LSU's Defense, what you'd need is not on your roster, on your sideline, in your booth, nor in your players' hearts.

I think we'll shore up the busted coverages on TR3.

Yeah. They finally squelched that stuff late in the game. Ridiculous stuff they didn't allow before or since. They did have two busted coverages early against wideouts in the UGA game.

I'm not telling since I know Nick reads all of my post. He appreciates my vast knowledge of defensive football.

you're not suggesting alabama could do this i hope.

Did you read my second to last sentence? "Actually, Oklahoma State would probably be a lot more successful moving the ball and scoring points against LSU than Alabama." Alabama's receivers are mediocre and A.J. McCarron is too turnover-prone and inconsistent for Alabama to implement a pass-heavy game plan. I believe a team like the mid '90s Fun N' Gun Florida teams coached by Spurrier with Wuerrfel, Fred Taylor and all those fast receivers (Anthony, Green, Hilliard) could be pretty successful against this year's LSU defense. There's no team with an offense like that in CFB anymore though.

i agree. like i said earlier, rollouts screens and dumpoffs would be hell for lsu. i think bama's gameplan will prove me right.

Nothing outside!

Personally I would rotate WR's and run fly patterns continously hoping to wear out the DB's and get a few deep ball TD's.

Wheel route after wheel route after wheel route. For some reason, running backs have a tendency to get lost with our d........though I'm certain Chavis is on to this.....

Georgia and Arkansas both moved the ball against our defense because of missed assignments and breakdowns in the defensive backfield, notably by Tharold Simon. He is the weak link and gets confused with misdirection when the offense seems to be going the other way.

Get us leaning in one way in coverage and come back at us with misdirection. Someone in the secondary could blow an assignment.

But, in both the Arky and Georgia, the defense figured things out and then locked both teams down. The problems didn't last long.

I think the key to beating LSU's defense is scoring touchdowns.

Chavis' defenses have always allowed yards. However, it's very difficult to convert those points into yards. His defenses are predicated on creating turnovers.

I think the best way to attack our defense is actually through our offense. Force our offense into continual three and outs, and win the field position battle.

UGA did this for one half. However, in the second half, our running game got going, which killed the rhythm of their offense. Once we flipped field position, and we ran the ball effectively, our defense caused three turnovers, which is really what our team thrives off of.

In summary, win the turnover battle; win the field position battle; when you get opportunities to score, score touchdowns. I know not all of these are directly related to the defense, but I don't believe any team in the country will mount consistent 70-80 yard drives against our defense. If I team were going to do it, they would need an outstanding quarterback, which Bama doesn't have.

Personally, I would line them all up and run over them.

For anyone else, I would suggest having your hands raised with a white flag in both.

Or I have seen both play, and I have seen our DBs perform better(not much better, but nonetheless, better). Look at the stats, broseph.

I have looked at the stats. You see the comparison between Mathieu and Menzie? Alabama has the better overall defense, but take off your crimson glasses, because LSU has the best DBs in the country.

but we could've scored 3 touchdowns on that defense.

you only had one gimme that was dropped. That was the one to the right to king. The one over the middle was a laser from murray and hard to catch regardless. A third??? you did not drop any others near the goal line. oh yeah playing the woulda coulda shoulda game i guess we could all say if every FG attempt was a TD instead blah blah blah which it is obvious you are playing.please.

We clamped down on what was "working" and they became " turnovers"

UGA threw the kitchen sink at us the first quarter and from the second quarter on we dominated them and shut them out for 3 quarters. NUFF SAID.

I would attack them the way Saban did in the first matchup. Run hard between the tackles and run swinging gates hoping to catch them in man. I would take fewer shots down field, though. It's very tempting but no one has been successful this year with that.

The best defense in the country is LSU's. Their statistics are nearly as good as Bama's and they've played better teams. Plus, they have never broken. Bama's has.

ATTACKING THE LSU DEFENSE, HMMM?

first thing i'd do is throw hand grenades at the corners. then i'd use an m1 abrahms as a fullback. i'd hire the terminator to play tight end. and prolly put general patton at qb. lol....

The best way to attack this defense is to force LBs into pass coverage and go for that matchup. Pretty much every big play we've given up either Hatcher or Francios were involved. This is why West Virginia passed on us and Arkansas on that one drive. That's really the only weak spot of this defense. You aren't going wear down the Dline, secondary can cover one on one, LBs are actually great in run support.

1. you absolutely cannot turn the ball over. this is lsu's strength and they happen more in the second half because teams start pressing. i know it's easier said than done because lsu is great at creating them but, it has to be stressed.
2. for passing to have any success, mingo has to be neutralized. his first move is so quick, big lumbering sec lineman can't keep up with him. put the fastest lineman on him and spy with a rb
3. attack hatcher.
4. the offense absolutely has to be balanced. stop doing one thing and lsu smells blood.
5. don't do what you did in the first game. absolutely will not work a second time. don't think you can repeat what anyone else did. it won't work for long.
6. run from passing formations - delayed handoff. let the dline get upfield taking themselves out of the play (although they are disciplined).
7. passing - like others have said, drag, crossing, pick, etc.

for bama's offense to have success, bama's defense and special teams must contribute. no one has had success against lsu's defense for an entire game. not even wvu.

Didn't read the thread so siap, I would def atack our LBs with Trent and your TEs.

I think we will do the same; getting your big lumbering LBs to give chase laterally could give us an advantage. I mean, they're slow as fvck, so....
