I think that game took 5 years off my life.
Normal for a LSU game.
As long as they keep winning is all that matters.

Huh? They were still blitzing their arse off in the 4th

We've replaced third and Chavis with 4th quarter and Chavis... More importantly, we've proven that it ain't the defense's fault when you toss dive most of the fourth quarter to protect a lead instead of seeking to expand the lead and put the game away. We've proven that if a D.C. wants to not die from a heart attack, it's better to go someplace that can score 49 points in a half instead of 49 points every two games... We've proven that LSU's offense and defense both have a common thread over the last 11 years regardless of who is D.C. and regardless of who is O.C. The defense is strong but can't hold off the other team when we repeatedly toss dive into 9 man fronts and give them the ball back, putting the weight of the game on the defense. I love the Aggies. The stadium is awesome. I want your team to win it all this year. I'd pay a ton to watch an Aggie OSU National Final. I'll be pulling against you come Saturday after Thanksgiving. But, if we can do it, gig em! And while Fournette is even more amazing than anyone thought, our QB is just as good as anyone anywhere. He's just not going to be allowed to showcase his talents. Toss dive... toss dive.... toss dive... punt... Literally like trying to guess which hand an old man is going to use to wipe his arse. You know he may use the left or the right... Either way, you know sooner a later you'll be looking at a mess of shite.

B
Defense played great while Les allowed our offense to play. When he saw that we had a two TD lead he was content going 3 and out and punting. Hung the defense out there to dry... I can't fault them for allowing that drive. I'm starting to understand why Chavis left... Defense is very young, they will get more seasoned and not make stupid mistakes. I liked Steele's pressure and aggressiveness.

I'm really curious why miss state didn't push the pace of play more. We lack depth on the d line and you could see they were gassed in the 4th. Combine that with this being our first game and I think miss state could have really taken advantage. Overall I'll give the defense a B.

What game did you watch? You only got consistent pressure in the 1st half. In the second half the OL stoned you DL if you only rushed 4.
That isn't true. Dak did a much better job of avoiding pressure in the 2nd half. Stepped out of 2-3 sacks and found the open man

Probably a B+

Allowing only 43 rushing yards... Not too shabby.

A lot of good points but Dak was on fire near the end and the corners looked outmatched. So I know it's easy to say the defensive coaching was poor during that period but their options were more limited when Dak was hitting everything he threw at.

Considering they went for over 300 yards in the ground last year this is great. #beckwith

Looked like LSU was blitzing while playing a zone. Their WRs were finding open spots in the zones and dinking and dunking their way down the field. The defense was gassed in the 4th. The CBs looked pretty damn good last night. White had a late breakup that would have gotten State closer for a field goal and the true freshman Tolliver was stride for stride with his man all night.

Y'all went into mostly prevent in the 4th quarter, why didn't they keep the pass rush going?
Lots of hands on hips, MSU ran like 26 plays in the 4th quarter, hard to keep up with man to man when secondary is tired too. They were trying to protect the lead giving up no big plays and it worked - barely.

We got after the QB. We were solid up the middle. That's what I wanted to see. Gave up too many passing yards down the stretch. Overall B

SEC opponent on the road with a 8th year QB (A-LA Tim Tebow) and we hold them to under 20...A

3 sacks and 8 more QB hurries
That's better than just about every SEC game we had last year. Even on that final drive we caused a a good bit of pressure on Dak, 2 pressure by DL and 1 by a LB.

Last year MSU was a completely different team. Not even comparable

B+
Looked great at times and got torched by the best QB in the SEC at times. Stopped them at the end, though.
No help from the offense in the second half. State went up tempo and it almost worked.
19 points and under 375 yds given up on the road against State, who torched us for 570 yards last year at home and a senior QB all while playing the first game with a new staff? I will take it all day.
