Saban went 7-6 w/a home loss to ULM in year one at Alabama.

Whew ... that was an even closer disaster for SC IMHO.
Retrospectively speaking he would have been horrible here. He totally sucked donkey balls at Texas this year whereas Boom has his guys playing hard and improving daily since he arrived.

why is this on the SEC rant?
what if he makes a turnaround similar to what Kirby did from season 1 to season 2?
Would you mind if I bump this to make you look like a complete fool?

Kirby's first year was terrible as well

We should learn from this, we may get Fisher but what if he is a complete laughing stock like Herman after year one?
I feel like this is all one long troll.
Nah...
At any rate, yes it's a crap shoot.
If it weren't, then every school would have been bidding for Saban's services when he was still struggling to lose less than 5 games a year at Michigan State.
There are no sure bets. And even great coaches can't fix every mess they find themselves in. Some of them are great because they learned what *doesn't* work the hard way.

I guess A&M just needs to invest some more money into their football program

Well we are richer that you and we have 100x better facilities

That's what's wrong with everything today. Not just a stupid game like football but everything. No one can wait for anything. Delayed gratification is lost in this generation and society. One year and he's a failure. Fantastic reasoning.

Good topic Sarge. I, personally, never wanted Herman. I saw Herman as a "potential" good coach, while Fisher was a proven good coach. Herman needed to demonstrate, in a major conference, that he could win consistently...he still hasn't done that. In my opinion, there was no comparison, Fisher was/is a better option than Herman. Also, given the two options (Herman vs. Oeaux), I believe that Oeaux was the much safer bet.
I'll hang up now and listen to the negatigers tell me again about Oeaux's failures at Ole Miss...

Yet A&M is still horrible at football.

Yet A&M is still horrible at football.
Let's look at two teams since Alabama won the 2009 National Title.
Team 1:
52-48 record
4 losing seasons (possibly a 5th)
0 division championships
0 conference championships
2-2 bowl record
1 top 25 finish
Team 2:
67-36 record
0 losing seasons
1 shared division championship
0 conference championships
4-3 bowl record
3 top 25 finishes
1 top 5 finish
According to you, team 2 is HORRIBLE. If team 2 is horrible, what is team 1?

It's the first year and TExas was bad off when he got there.
What was Saban's record his first year at Bama?
To soon to tell.

Aggy has screwed their chance to ever catch Texas.
Problem is as you see here a lot of A&M fans live in a self created world that A&M somehow is a superior university.
A&M was afraid of Tom Herman and that is why Sumlin was put under pressure this year but Herman was not able to turn around Texas in his first year so A&M has to capitalize on another opportunity.
That is where Jimbo Fisher comes in. From all reports A&M has crapped the bed with Fisher.
Where does that leave A&M?

Here's a hint: Geoff Ketchum, Chip Brown, Jean-Jaques Taylor, and the Daily Herald are not credible sources on A&M.

Issue there is that you cannot change over 100 years of history in these past 8 years.
No matter how you attempt to justify your claim A&M did not take advantage of the last 7 years of horrible football at Texas.
