Smart decision there is no point in playing. McMahon now has NIL money to work with so LSU bball will be back soon

Seems defeatest to turn it down.

I think USC has referred to South Carolina longer than the school out West. That one was always "Southern Cal" or "Southern California" back in the 1960's and 70's

declining the bid was the biggest win of the season for Gamecock basketball
Declining tournament bids shouldnt be a thing. SEC office should mandate participation

NCAA just needs to end the NIT just like LSU needs to end McMahon's tenure at LSU.

The NIT is good for mid majors like Arkansas State from the Sunbelt.
Not so much for power 4 teams with high levels of NIL.

Yeah, really. SC could win that. Extra practice, etc. Even Kentucky played the NIT last time they were eligible, and thanks to DOG, the memory is fresh.

I mean, we weren't anywhere near being worthy to play in the NCAA, so you can't just play in a lesser postseason against some interesting opponents.....?
Sounds petty to me.

I was really disappointed y'all declined that bid. SC was playing really competitive against the very best SEC teams, but for whatever reason you couldn't seal the deal against teams like Florida, Auburn, Tennessee Ole Miss and A&M.
Y'all had a tremendous fan base even in a poor season. There's no way the team and the fans wouldn't have willed the Cocks to at least a couple of tourney wins.
I learn well last September 14, on a hot afternoon in Williams-Brice, how passionate the Gamecocks fans can be! Loudest stadium in the land

We’re not. We’re a 6th seed in the NCAAT

LSU didn't want anymore embarrassment, I get it.

Holy fricking shite

Man, that's just wrong.

That looks like a better tournament field than the NIT. Offer a winner take all ten million bucks to be split among players and coaches. Now that would get them playing.

And it’s a shame all these teams choose to pout.
Tournament anything is worth it if not for competition. I choose to not compete is weak.

Darn, I am pretty disappointed by LSU declining,
I think they would have rolled through this thing.
