LSU and Auburn coaching

I know you folks like to fan the flames, but let's understand one simple thing.
The coaches jobs are in jeopardy almost entirely because of QB play. Harris and Johnson turned out to be busts. You can't score points when you have a QB that can't make basic throws and turns the ball over excessively.
I just think we should all be clear about this, and realize that the main way these coaches have failed is in not recruiting more quality QB's. It doesn't mean they are bad coaches in general, or that they should be fired immediately. They just need to address the QB position and hopefully get a blue chipper for next year.

Etling will remind everyone how good a coach Les is.

I think our QB is decent, just in the wrong system to maximize his strengths.

I'm not seeing it. And you don't get a new coach just to tailor an offense to one player.

Let me tell you why you are wrong and should worry about your own team and not one that you obviously no nothing about.
The problem with Miles is he tries to find the best star athlete he can nab at QB which are mostly from spread offenses and tries to shoe horn them into a pro-style scheme that does not work with their skill set. They have no idea how to run it comfortably and Miles does not let them run like they are used to.
Now go play in traffic.

Aren't they responsible if the QB they recruit and develop can't play?

UGA is barely 3-0. Could be 0-3. Gus needs a special QB for his system... Some would argue it's nuts for a coach to rely that heavily on one player for his scheme to work.

I actually agree. The thing is that Gus used to tailor his offense around his players' strengths. It's like the ease with which Cam and Marshall ran his system either changed his philosophy or made him lazy. Either way, he has lost much of the creativity that once made him a great offensive mind.
Still, I think firing him would be a mistake. I'm aware of his recent conference record and it is obviously a huge concern. 2014 was more of a defensive issue as we gave up 36ppg in our last 5 SEC games. While it's ultimately his fault that we're in this situation and even considering his flaws, I know that his offense is lethal when he has the QB he wants.
I just don't think Auburn is that far away, and if we had that QB then I really believe that we'd be a very dangerous team. You aren't going to find another Cam, but there are players like Nick Marshall out there who can run his offense effectively. I'm clearly in the minority but that's my opinion.

ok, that's the MAIN way they've failed. but there are other ways too.

just how many years should they get to address this? les miles has had bad QB play for most of his career and terrible QB play out of his last two starters.
I think we should be clear about this, firing Les Miles would not be an IMMEDIATE firing.

Agree. Harris would be decent in the offense auburn runs and white would do well at lsu

I agree with this which makes his recruitment of White so strange

Maybe. We have to assume in your scenario that Harris can hit an open receiver. He is not a prolofic designed run guy

Too bad the teams can't just swap qb's. Seems to me each would fit better in the other team's system. I heard the weird thing about Harriss is that he looks amazing in practice but chokes during games.

Definitely seems to be mental. Feel bad for the kid

I can't speak for LSU, but Auburn's problem has been evaluating and developing QBs. That along with dumb play calling.

What are you talking about? Miles delivers a top 100 passing attack from time to time. Do you think receivers grow on trees in Louisiana or something?
Since we've gotten rid of Jimbo's QBs
Year: Pass yds per game
08: 71st
09: 96th
10: 102nd
11: 108th
12: 95th
13: 54th
14: 118th
15: 103rd
16: 100th
Get Miles some talent on the outside for once and let's see what he can do. Those teams only averaged like 3 or 4 NFL WRs on the roster per season, and only like 2 Pro Bowlers

It's the same issue, Gus and les aren't recruiting to their systems.

This is a bit misleading. Check the stats on Gus' non-DT QB's (The 2 at arkie, Todd, KF, Clint, Trotter, JJ and SW) against SEC level competition. It isn't pretty. Gus' biggest failure is admitting his systems needs a DT to be successful at a high level.
